You know how you wish you'd never started a job on the Zed, happens all the time eh?

Well I have been trying to get the 2 top stud bolts out to the drivers side turbo for bl%0dy ages now. read countless threads. I can't really heat it up as there's feck all room down there and I've disoconnected so many bits and bobs to get better access she ain't going run without me spending a few hours putting vac hoses etc back together, not to mention hte pas side O2 sensor and d/pipe. :gun_bandana:

For those who have done it what tool did you use I bought most of the tools in the attached photo. Getting a offset ring on is no problem, turning it in the imited space however is. Stubby ring yep good fit more room, no leverage though

1/4 socket fits again no fecking room to turn the wrench, at this rate I'm going to put the passengers side all back together and selling the fecking decat pipes etc. And wait for my enigne rebuild to go in later in the year :taz::taz:

i had to angle grind a 10mm ring spanner (make it slightly thinner) once the spanner was on, hit it with a rubber mallet or even a metal hammer to crack the nut from its tightness, then it undoes with your fingers. well did for me on all 4 turbos ive removed so far.

I used a spanner on a rope.

Mate hadn't thought of that, I'll give it a go and let you know how I get on.

Wifey already thinks I'm mad, :confused1: caught me climbing onto the engine to get better purchase on the spanner, lol

so no one has removed their d/pipes with the engine in then?

yeah loadsa people, thats mostly how they get done i think your just unlucky partly as yours are partially rusted arnt they? ive got mine to do very very soon. i have read that doing it with the gearbox as i will be makes life 100xs easier.

I have it on good authority that dropping the sub frame 1" should give enough clearance to get to them from under neath, so will be giving it a go

Hi mate,

on the drivers side have u removed the starter motor, gives you more room.

Done few sets and had no problem.

Passanger side, remove battery to get to top ones.

Are they rusted on,

If u need little more leverage, use 2 spanners ring part on nut/bolt then ring part of 2nd spanner on open end of 1st spanner.

There not Normally that bad to do, but if really rusty anything can be a nightmare.

Goodluck.

Got this to look forward to, one of mine is already sheared off and just been left by previous owner! That'll be fun fetting the rest of it out

On drivers side to get to top, if was being a right pain u could remove master cylinder should give u loads of room.

But if starter is removed u should have no trouble and shouldn't need too.

I don't drop the subframe, even when changing both turbos with the engine in.

If u ain't done it allready remove battery and starter makes big differance.
