its failed before but then come back again once ive got some speed back up but this time its just died. normally i loose the power steering aswel that hasnt happened for months though.

today however its just gone, it fell like a stone under full acceleration and hasnt come back up since. the hicas warning light came on aswel.

i had a quick look underneath nothing hanging down. i checked the pas pot, which was full. short of leaving it alone for the night and hoping it works again tomorrow might sound silly but that does seem to work most of the time. im outta ideas.........

check the speed sensor hasnt seperated (search for thread by Jefftt)

check all the plugs are firmly in on the back of the speedo

try a new speedo converter if you use one

resolder all the joints on the speedo

If you are using a speed converter check the 12 volt wire that is powering it.

I had this problem on my NA and the wire was not upto doing to speedo, power steering and the chip. Moved it onto a different 12V wire and not had a problem since

my speedo wasn't working (worked occasionly) when i bought the car so i changed the clocks for uk ones, but still didnt work. Gona replace the speed sensor now and see if that works. The power steering goes on and off too so sounds like the same problem. Had the car up on the ramp today and couldnt see any obvious problems with the sensor but will change it anyway.Let me know if you find a solution.

does the zed often fix itself lol?

btw, while on the subject, if I were to buy UK clocks, is there anyone who can legitimately adjust the mileage to match my own?

As above, the whole cluster comes out so you can pop your new ph gauge into the orginal cluster creating a frankenstien.

iirc Jeff at Zedworld can do it for you with a certificate to say it's been done. You would need to take the car to him for fitting your clocks or getting a kph to mph converter fitted.
