wrong answer, correct answer now posted

Hi Mark, I'm not sure this is correct, I have no battery on the car to check this out, will try and confirm tomorrow.

No they dont, sorry Paul, i had to put some leds in mine to create a sidelight as i too have no fogs. There is another method of cutting out a bulb holder hole in the blank where there should have been a side light, you will see what i mean if you get one apart.

ok thanks for the info ... i can put some LED's in my ones that will be easy anyways

I used normal 5mm white leds, i placed a 470 ohm resistor on each one, as i didnt want to lose a row of three if wired in series.

I drilled 5mm holes which makes a nice tight fit, then hot glued and sealed the rear of the leds/wiring

Done it .. i used two 3smd/led light strips in each unit ...

so theres a total of 6leds and all will run independent

Cool, the only reason i didnt use the strips is the spacing of the leds are too far apart for the effect i wanted.

  • Author

i stagged the leds over both strips so theres led about 5>7mm apart

looks all right i will try and a pic

Mark would this have anything to do with the issues you have at the MOT station, about your lights?

  • Author

nope .. not even fitted yet ... bumper/lights are still in my garage ready to be fitted some time this week

  • Author

its not on the car yet ...... but in that pic u can see its got an Flar edge to the bumper now

I know you have done this now but can we use later combination flasher side lights that have a us spec side light or do the sidelights have to be to the inside of the flashers doing away with the sidelights in the fogs and if so where does the the power come from to use them? is there a socket in the wing or taken from the fuse box or a different wiring loom from a Jap

  • Author

all the wires/plugs are all there

Jap

Indicators only

Side/Fog

US/Uk

Indicators/side

Fogs

thats the same with all Bumpers

unless Fog light units have been removed

US/UK indicator units will have to be used

99 spec bumper needs different indicators units

and dont have any side lights in them

this is why me and other ppl have fitted LEDs in them

when No Fogs are fitted

Hi Mark, I have the later indicator/side light or marker with 3 wire connector in the unit so I have the side light but it is not activated as the sidelight iin the fog is used, I am asking if it is legal to use this instead of the one in the fog, my other early zeds have a 2 wire connector in the flasher so I would have to do the lcd fit.

  • Author

yep its legal ... u can wire them both up if you want to ... i'm not sure how its wired in the fuse box on the car

but if its more problems on the fuse box end .. u can cut in to the side light wire on fog and join it up to the Side light holder on the

indicator unit
