Hi guys,

What's your opinions on the 2.

Standard v's updated.

Had 18 before, and went back to standard and was amazed how better it drive.

Then went for another set of 18 again lol, and tyres are low and standard set of wheels come up with 4 new tyres,

so have put them on till get 18 refurbed with new tyres.

But this time went back to standard it seems to drive worse, seems like it has lots of body roll and I mean lots, and no grip but more on the front wheels, if I hit a roundabout a bit fast the front just slides away,

never had this on a z allways the back broke 1st.

I have now sorted all my suspension problems, hicas bushes went na rear,

and brand new standard shocks, no movement anywhere all replaced. But standard bits,

maybe before the 18 showed all the faults and standard wheels covered them up.

Was looking forward to smooth nice driving z, why had wheels done,

but now it looks worse and drives worse,

most people say drives better standard, but seems to take the sporty tight and lots of grip feel and gave me sloppy and scary drive no grip and loose.

The other thing I also noticed before you could hit bends and turn and it would b slower to turn in so you would steer it some more and feel the grip,

but now it turns in so quick and feels like the wheel/tyre has gone under itself and can't feel anything,

hard to explain lol but like its caught in a groove like tramline with wheel moving around.

Sorry about my writing I know I'm crap at explaing things.

Anyone else gone any veiws or shall I just shut up and get other wheels back on.

I'd say it's down to the tyres if grip is so bad.

Sure the standard wheels will be more comfortable as the higher profile tyres will be more forgiving on poor roads; but the 18s will give a more sporty ride and less roll. But a crappy brand of tyres will make a 300zx ride and handle like, well, crap!

Top quality tyres, in either standard or upgraded sizes, will ensure that the car drives and feels much more stable.

Tyres came on the wheels 4x new zeta ztr10, 225.50.16

never heard of them before so your most likely right,

to buy 4 tyres for these may has well drive it to I get wheels refurbed and new tyres on the 18"s just have to drive soooo slow lol.

Cheers for the reply.

Anyone know how good/bad the above tyres are be appreciated.

Thank you.

Never heard of those tyres myself - but that sounds like your problem! When I bought my first ZX it was shod with brand new Avons and they were awful.....

.....I actually wondered if I had made a mistake buying the car. But a set of Goodyears later and the car was transformed!!

Cheers again, I will get my other wheels done asap,

it's shocking if it is the tyres, I have had tyres before (pirelli) and been great on most cars but crap on the back of my zed very slippery.

Maybe side walls are to soft or somthing and rolling about on the rim.

Thank u.

My tyre of choice are Falken 452's. They grip well, don't wear too fast and they're pretty easy on the wallet.

Suspension, the geometry and the profile of the tyres will be big factors on how it feels as well.

If you're throwing a heavy car like the Z around fast corners, you need to get the camber angles right for the width of the tyres.
