I'm trying to get the zed insured on a classic policy as i've already got an everyday car.

I've phoned Footman James, Performance Direct and Adrian Flux but they all say they don't insure imports! It's so frustrating as im sure there's not much difference between the uk and jap spec.

Anyone got any recommendations for other companies as it's looking like i'll never get the car on the road.

Looks like i'll just have to phone a load up tomorrow. It's just a pain goin through all the information over and over again just for them to say 'is this an import? Sorry we cant insure you.' Even though i told them it was an import from the start!!!

im with elephant and before that admiral, both insure imports, and im only 22,

id avoid Adrian flux though, im not going into detail, i don't want to slag them off in public, as i know some of you get on with them,

im 26 so could be an age thing, thought i'd got some really good quotes until i phoned them to pay and they said no, adrian flux did offer me a policy for £5,000 though! thats after they quoted me £330 online.

Off work tomorrow so i'll phone around and see who's decided to insure imports this week. Thanks for your help guys.

Deffo try footman james again, I'm 29, import TT, half decent area, garaged, 204 quid, they DO insure imports, as hundreds of people on here with imports are insured by them and by all accounts, they seem to be one of the cheapest at the mo. Ask them straight away if they insure imports, and if they say no, just say, erm, can I speak to somone else, because you do insure imports....

cheers mate, gona phone them up first tomorrow, don't know why they tell people different things.

As already mentioned, contact Dave at Footman Jones and he'll sort it for you. he's mentioned previously that some staff still don't realise they should be insuring the imports.

just got mine done today on footman james and its an import and was £132

i'm sure i read somewhere on here that they dont list or Insure it if u say its an fairlady ( import ) but u tell them its a 300zx import and its all ok no probs

we actualy have one of the footman james lot on here im sure he will be along shortly to help but as saifd they do insure imports as they have offered me a very very cheap policy im your asge.

Got a good quote from City Insurance today, they didnt mess me around like the others so think i might go with them and there's no confusion about imported cars. Hopefully have the car on the road on friday, can't wait!

Thanks for the help.

Ah the insurance lottery. It simply just depends who you speak to on the other end of the phone.

I spoke to two people at one company about the same car within 15 mins (I got cut of by mistake) and the price was almost double so I called another company, this was sometime ago I must admit.

Mine is an import, and down as an import with Admiral FC for less than £500 on my Slicktop TT, im 25 with good no claims etc.

Just have to keep trying places until you get one that is sensible!

we need some sort of insurance data base to help ppl

like

insurer

car

age

NCB

Mileage

kinda give some ppl a run down of whats what on cost and who to try
