Hi there,

just tried to search for answers...but it wouldn't let me. I'm getting the 120K service done soon, timing belt etc....But I'm getting a full service as well. I Have a 1995 N/A automatic 300zx so....

a) what the best oil to use for full oil change? and how much 2 litres?

b) best coolent? again how much?

c) Spark plugs? I don't think they've ever been changed? 62k on clock, worth changing?

d) k& n oil and air filter? worth doing?

e) rear brake pads, coz at the last mot they flag these up as needing changing at some point soon.

any advice gratfully received,

Adz

A) what the best oil to use for full oil change? And how much 2 litres? i use magnatec 10/40w may need 4L

b) best coolent? Again how much? depends on the colour, blue or pink. Don't mix them. Again halfords ready mix 50/50 is fine get a couple of the 5l in case of bleeding probs

c) spark plugs? I don't think they've ever been changed? 62k on clock, worth changing? Yep, ngk pfr6b-11 iirc

d) k& n oil and air filter? Worth doing? personally the oem oil filter is probably the best one for the engine. K+n airfilters, yep they'd be fine

e) rear brake pads, coz at the last mot they flag these up as needing changing at some point soon. ebay do decent pads

hth.

Steams has given some good advice there mate....

......Oil quantity is about 3.75 litres (less than 4 anyway) with the filter change; and any decent fully synthetic 0w40, 5w40 or 10w40 is fine for a relatively stock ZX. (EDIT - As you have an NA then Steams' recommendation will be more than adequate). Not sure on coolant capacity though as my hand book is in the car - which is locked in my garage...

Plugs are platinum tipped and need replacing at 60k mile intervals, so if they haven't been done best do it at the same time.

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

god you guys are good!! Changing the subject slightly. I'm going to go spoilerless on my LWB (not to everyone's taste...but to mine!) I have the old cracked foam one. If i got that taken off for a smooth finish...do you a) need to put a perspex cover? or can you just weld up holes and spray it up. and b) what happens to the built in brake light that is in the foam spoiler??? many thanks, adz

lol.

Ideally you will need the perspex strip, behind it the car has large hollows and it would just look like something's missing. You can get the perspex strip with the brake light fitting installed, so the light stays where it is but shines through the perspex.

HTH

No worries mate. Nissan are as cheap as anywhere for the strip. MJP in the traders section can get you one. :)

cheers guys, where's the best place to get perspex strip??? adz

For me it would be MJP in the traders section. Zcentre also sells them but they are possibly more expensive - Mike at MJP is always helpful and reliable and I'm always happy to recommend him!

As there are a lot of Zs being scrapped at the moment you might find a late na without a spoiler and save a whole lot of elbow grease

In Australia the rules are you must have these upper brake lights fitted,I wonder if the rules are the same in the UK.

Nope not the same mate.

As Smithy says mate, the UK spec zeds don't have the upper brake light.
