Yer thought so going to see my mate at the local garage on tuesday and use the pullers as I ended up bending the steering wheel with force I gave it omg thought it would be a ten minute job had to goto the pub to chill out lol

Put the nut back on a good 4-5 threads and while pulling on the steering wheel with one hand tap the nut with a hammer, DO NOT do it with out the nut, you will regret it for the next few hours or more!! Lol

that sounds like the right way to me...

Ok there is a simple and fool proof way of removing the standard zed steering wheel and despite all of the well meaning suggestions your hitting it the wrong way! I know it sounds mad but tapping it on will release it, 5 second job everytime of you get it right.

So with the nut removed sitting square on in the seat place your clenched fists on the wheel rim at the quarter to three posistion ( opposite each other at the sides) next to the spokes, now beat down on the wheel like a gorilla beats its chest, rapid and hard, it will then release, trying to pull it towards you will not work as it locks.

right put the nut on level with the spine braced across with 6inch piece of solid steel 2 g clamps one either side and tightned moving the bar around the steering wheel omg bent the bar and buckled the clamp

Pullers on tuesday but I have my doubts!!! tried knocking down with the nut in place no good lucky have spare nut from the guy that sold me the wheel.

getting deperate now as I now have no horn should I cut the sleave that wraps around the spine thus opening up the joint?

Do it the way Jeff said mate, he does this sort of thing for a living ;)

Exactly guys - listen to the 300zx master. Jeff knows these cars better than anyone!!!

Thanks for all the help guys I have just noticed that the steering wheel rear looks like its been rewelded to the collar that goes over the spine. I might of inherited something here from the previous owner?or are the welds normally bad for a factory fitted with cruse?

jeff didn't ignore your advice just typed my attempt before re-reading post:blushing:

Jeff won't mind. lol

Anyway, is it still not coming off then?

bloody hell i GOT IT OFF had to drill a 5mm hole just above the spine right through to the back then carefully drilled holes down into the spine from above 15 minutes all done cruise boss works and horn:beta1:

As i stated earlier the pulling and pushing displaced the whole steering column easier with a drill just make sure you don't let the swarf clog the bearings and regrease after.

Anydody want a steering wheel with holes in it lol thanks to all for all the advise
