Hi guys,

gonna have a go at rebuilding a spare engine I have,

wanted forged pistons, rods, and acl bearings.

Anyone know the best place to buy them from cheapest and easiest options seems everywhere I look ends up in America.

Is that where everyone is buying from or is there somewhere hiding in England.

What pistons and rods are best to buy, wanna buy cheapest possible but would rather pay bit more then buy ones that ain't any good.

Any help appreciated thank u.

I've also always heard getting stuff from the states is alot cheaper plus there are plenty of sites that do a full uprated rebuild kit. The most common combo used is Wiseco pistons and Eagle rods.

thats also what ive heard, i cant give your personal experience on vg engine building or fitting of those parts, i think you need to have the block rebored to accept the larger wiescos.i could be wrong there though.

however ive ordered plently of bike parts from the us and it can work out a hell of alot cheaper, however you can get stung by import tax and unless your saving a hell of alot it may not be worth it, the key is to order everything in one load and get one load of tax and one postage.

my old frame was £370 here but only $300 that combined with some savings on forks and bits and bobs i ended up spend about £500 to my door instead of over a thousand.

Yeah order pistons at least 0.5mm oversize from what you have currently then take it to an engineering workshop and have the block cylinders bored to the new piston size and have the block decked. You will need to give the pistons to the workshop when you take the block in. Also give the shop your lower cradle and get it line bored as well if it's needed.

Cheers 4 all the replys guys,

was hoping to buy all the parts bit by bit cause I am usless at saving but looks like I will have to save up then buy it all from America,

only good thing is it's a spare engine so there's no rush.

All the advice taken for oversize and engineer work much appreciated.

What's the best turbo kit to go for don't want laggy and not really after monster power.

Like smooth power like standard z.

With maybe 400 to 450 bhp.

What would be needed to get that much.

Turbos, injectors, and re map or would there b loads more.

Hi mate , concerning buying the parts, i would strongly suggest Concept z in america, very helpful guy ( coz ) , very quick shipping, great prices and always very quick replying to emails .

regarding turbo if you just want that sort of power, Jimmer on here has a 4 bolt turbo that is very good and hes around that power 450 cant remember the name of it now though, meaning you wouldnt need 5 bolt downpipes etc .

injectors theres alot to choose mate and re map you can either buy a standalone ( expensive) or fit a chip to suit your spec

Cheers guys that website is great,

if I bought pistons, and rods from that site.

Acl bearings.

And nissan gasket set.

Would that be enough, should I really bother with new oil pump, and what about the arp bolts are they really needed or will the standard ones be ok - seems you can re use head bolts.

And cometic gaskets and bits are these all for really big bhp.

I get lost when it comes to all this updated stuff.

Id suggest new water and oil pump mate , bolts arent necessary for what you want to achieve and cometic headgaskets would also be a good upgrade for you.

one thing i would say with any rebore is make sure the machine shop get the running clearance correct and ultrasonically wash the block afterwards, this will ensure the oilways etc are clean

havent used Wiseco pistons in a car engine but have in big bore Suzuki GSX-R engines (1340cc and beyond) and they are superb :)
