Just had an old episode of Top Gear on and they were road testing some cars, what I noticed was they were talking to each other on CB radios whilst driving.

Is this not the same as using a mobile phone while driving or are they different some how?

Ar, the days of the wind up, they used to get me as well.

I can not believe it, that must have been more than 30 years ago!

lol yeah i used to do DX'ing ... My Handle was HI-FI

had a Little Baby Motorola and a TrisStar 777 for Mobile

then had a Yasu Rig at home with a serio 27/7 aeriel on 30ft scaffold pole

i used to get ppl trying to say they was from over seas too

it was fun .. winding ppl up

but it Killed my last relationship ...

but i did meet my current one now i ended up putting a hammer to all the radios after meeting my wife

...

the chitter chater back stabbing that went off was just as bad as the internet , fourms , facebook and all the others

Can be done in the right weather conditions although not likely a mag mount, lol

years ago i used to have a hi gain silver rod which was on a 20' scaffi pole on the third floor nearly of my roof.

This was all before the internet kicked off but when the effect of weather happened which we called skip you could

talk to folks on the other side of the world nearly.

But furthest i got was sweden and germany.

ive got a few cb radios that are getting installed in the zed for road trips and the display isnt any more disctracting than a guage.

Only need one in there as you can just talk to any one else in the car

Still got my old one somewhere not sure where the aerial and magnetic base is though

Could always tell how close they were roughly by turning back the rf gain !
