If I had a paddling pool I would sit in the front garden naked drinking beer and shout abuse at people that walk by.......

Bit wierd...

You live next door to Steams then?

No he doesn't!!

I live in his attic

I just can't believe what the Government officials have been saying about this possible strike....

It seems to me that they are the ones causing this problem and now laughing as all the extra fuel revenue rolls in... I'd love to see the figures....

So.........no one else noticed that the price of fuel went up just before the strike?

Would be better off boycotting the pumps rather than feeding into the governments hands and panic buying. also if people had any sense, they would just go about it as normal rather than panic buying, this would ensure the strike would be over before the pumps ran dry and everyone would go about their business.

Is this strike by any chance going to lower the price of fuel? or is it solely for the drivers benefit?

It's about pay and conditions mate, nothing to do with the fuel prices i'm afraid.

I see Halfords have reported a 476% increase in the sale of jerry cans too..

From what I hear they are getting paid £45k a year to do a task a reasonably well-trained monkey could do

Am I alone in thinking thats more than enough?

and the're moaning about it? typical

So let me get this right, 2000 tanker drivers are complaining that 45k a year and pension up set, is too little for a dangerous job? yet our boys and girls out in Afghan get 24k or there about to get shot at? round them 2000 up, stick um on a plane bound for afghan, then ask 2000 soldiers if they want to earn 45k a year driving a fuel tanker about. solution sorted.

The ironic things is that the Army have already been told to train up drivers to take over if the strike goes ahead. But they won't be getting the extra pay that this "dangerous" job entails...

I must admit I was shocked when i heard the salary that petrol tanker drivers get.

Imagine if the same price band was given to a railway engine driver, lets say a small train of tankers removing 20 road based tankers would mean your average train driver would be 900k a year!

Imagine what a supertanker captain would get paid! lol

I would say that it's a job that has a small risk attached. As said, it's not as if a tanker blows up every day is it..

As far as I'm concerned the most dangerous job in the world isn't; Catching crab in Alaska or driving on a road made of ice, tanker driving etc..

The MOST dangerous job in the world is done by the British Army in Afgan and it's IED detection and disposal.

this is what it says on the BBC...

What is the dispute about?

The trade union Unite says the strike ballot is about safety standards and terms and conditions. The union says the industry is too "fragmented" and wants a "national forum" which would hold the employers to account over conditions. It claims some workers have had their contracts repeatedly renegotiated and some have had six different pension providers in 10 years. Unite also says shorter delivery deadlines have created a "turn and burn" culture. Unite insist the dispute is not about pay.

as has has been said, this doesn't compare the the armed forces.... but you can see how much of a problem they can cause.....

kind of puts me back in mind of just how much money football players and actors / musicians get.... for what!!???!!

I can announce that even though they are panic buying like mad near me, my local chinese take away still has the fuel to deliver. Phew emergency over

Their van probably runs on hoisin sauce!!

How strange, another recession is about to be announced and the goverment induce panic buying of their biggest tax revenue.........

Also, stop panic buying, a strike has to be announced a MINIMUM of 7 days before it happens so the soonest now would be next friday, AND, It is only 2 out of the 5 main suppliers who will be striking,

Jesus, I HATE panic buyers with a passion, lets do what we are told all the time yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

For entertaining millions of people with talents only one in about 20,000 have.

Mental here I just visited 10 petrol stations. All closed with no fuel, and one had a tanker on the forecoirt they wouldnt say if they were going to reopen. I gave up after 20 minuyes. I managed to fill my van up took an hour of quing, but we need the fuel. Looks like the zeds grounded, red lights on now :(
