Has anyone else noticed there are 2 types of oem bumpers.

 

you know where the bumper joins the wheel arch. you have the line that goes along the arch then onto the bumper. well some are really flared and some not much so.

 

Mine are the smoothed type and hollandrob81 zed was the flared type??

Also the two silver cars above were a slightly different silver.

both on original paint, the lwb was a 91, the slicktop a 92.

 

Every panel inside and out was a shade different. never checked the code mind

It was an optional extra from the factory to have this instead of the mudspats, available in uk jap and us markets. Nissan had a shortage of non flared at one point so fitted the flared to some models regardless.

Although I am shocked at this discovery. Like yowser, I had noticed this before but just assumed it was a light thing... It is actually a difference. I can't for the life of me think what would warrant the production cost of a different style bumper with such a minor difference.

surely there would be different part numbers - has anyone got access to nissan EPC to check??

This uk spec zed is on ebay for sale and only has 40K on the clock. Its cheap aswell :)
