I need a new windscreen on the shorty and went roubnd to Autoglass. Now i only want the import glass as thats why we pay extra for insurance so they contacted Nissan and the part number for the windscreen to match my reg has been superseeded and they cant tell what colour this new number will be and its non refundable.

So is the new part no still bronze with blue tint as for import anyone know?

Also they cant get one till 19th March which isnt any good for me as i wont be here so anywhere else i can use that may be quicker?

Oh they were gonna replace the windscreen trim pieces and clips too on the insurance claim which seemed pretty damn cool to me for just my excess :D

Perhaps Marty you can mention to Autoglass that Pilkington make one for our cars as I got one through my insurer.

And they got it quick, colour was also correct as you state

Autowindscreens did mine and supplied a bronze screen with a green top tint (same as the original nissan one that was in it, but made by Pilkington) pretty quick. They got the 1st screen in 2 days, but this was cracked and they sourced another one 2 days later.I would be surprised if you get the trim strips replaced as well though, mine were removed and refitted, but they did a really good job :)

Is yours a UK spec though as green tint is UK spec. I want to make sure i get Blue import glass tint at the top just as i want it to be the same as it was. They had a few Green tint ones in stock in UK but i dont want it.

No mate, mines a JDM but the green top tint screen that was in it was a genuine nissan one so whether it had been changed in the past i dont know but i prefer the green top tint with the black paintwork

Edit...forgot to say the tint on the main part of the screen is bronze, same as all the other glass

I had my last insurance company try writing my zed off a few years back as the window claim was near £3000 grand with bronse tint and trims. It was going to have to be imported from Japan. That was with autoglass. I ended up telling them to shove it and sourced 2nd hand glass off the forum.

As i understand it UK spec is bronze with green tint and JDM is bronze with blue tint. Either way ill hold out for the JDM screen as that is what should be in there. If i fit UK spec glass rust with start appearing all over the rear arches

Hi Marty,

I could be wrong here, but I think that only J-spec glass is bronze. I thought that UK spec was blue with a darker blue top tint...... (or something like that). Mine is UK spec and I'm pretty sure the glass is not bronze at all.

Richard:oops:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

My Pilkington one is bronze with a green sunstrip top, although I am not sure if Nissan do call this blue as it is like a jade colour.

The numbers on mine are

M473 AS1 DOT 49

43R - 001082

It is also laminated and E2 marked

I was originally told by autowindscreens that they could only supply uk spec blue tint screen with a dark blue top tint so I think you may be right Richard. But i was adamant I wanted a bronze tint and it turned out the guy at the branch that were dealing with mine owns a Skyline so they sourced a JDM spec bronze tinted screen.

its places like autoglass that add to the cost of our insurance, when i needed to get my UK spec black zed, i didnt have insurance on it as it was stuck in a garage sorned, auto glass quoted me £700 for the UK spec windscreen £400 of that was for the clips and weather strips

I got one from a local fitter for £219 fitted and used my own weather strips. bloody rip off merchants autoglass are.

But yeah, bronze for JDM, blue for UK spec.

i found that taking the bonnet off, removing the strips my self, and getting the scuttle panels out of the way before they arrived a lot better than him having to do it him self and possibly breaking something.

Well im not too sure now then ill check my slickie but i remember seeing it has blue top tint. The screen in my new shorty still has the Jap stickers in the window so i would say bronze with blue tint is JDM which is what i want anyway :) Sod it ill get the part number they gave me from Nissan that is for import glass but it doesnt say what colour as it was changed

Your windscreen may have been replaced by a UK spec one before you or Janus had it. Blue is definitely UK, bronze is JDM.

There was someone on here that needed a new bronze one, iirc it took ages for the windscreen firm to get the correct one, but they imported one from Japan in the end.

Exactly what I did Ian, didn't take the bonnet off though

And Marty there is really nothing wrong with the Pilkington one, suggest you make an enquiry and then weigh up from there bud

Ill look into it all going on the insurance anyway. Can you post a pic of the screen on your slickie just so I can compare.
