Hi folks,

Got a problem with the driver's side front indicator. The bulb won't illuminate, so i checked the bulb and the bulb is fine, I even tried another new bulb just in case, but still didn't work. So, checked all the fuses (couldn't tell which was which - due to jap writing) which were also fine. So not really sure what's next. It was working fine, but on a recent long run I noticed that the right turn signal was flashing at double speed, so thought it was just the bulb..

Any suggestions?

Many thanks - Leo

If it was flashing at double speed it normally means one bulb on that side has blown. Did you check all the bulbs down the drivers side?

I HAVE EXACTLY THE SAME ISSUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the faster flash just indicates a drop in resistance, so could indicate a break in the wiring i guess. im not sure how to tackle this really. might just scotch lock from the side repeater???

any advice folk?

EDIT*

im guessing it cant be a fuse, as 5 of the six flashers are working??

hi i have a problem to all six are working on mine but still getting the fast flash so im going to change the relay to see if that cures the problem or i have a bulb that is just not right alow they are all working

cheers trev

you dont have any LED type bulbs fitted do you? as these will make the flash faster if theres not a resistor fitted.

With all the modern bulbs these days, we all should fit fast flash relays, easily bought from the far east and cheap, just above the pedals and is an easy swop over.

Of course if you do have a problem on the six winkers you will not have a cabin warning to let you know

whats the benefit of this then? cheers

RIGHT! after cleaning up the holder as best i could with still no joy, i snipped off the holder and found that the bulb will work off bare wires. meaning the problem is in the holder, and more specifically on the earth side.

does anyuon know how the holder comes apart? if it does? cheers

AHA!!!! sorted! i snipped the bulb holder off the wires, removed the positive line which goes to the spring loaded contact in the center, and prised out the metal earth contact from the plastic holder. i could clearly see that there was not a great earth there, so replaced the wire with a fresh bit of single core. i was going to solder the wire to the metal earth holder, but realised that by pushing in the metal holder into the plastic holder this will fix the wire to the holder. reassembled the lot and off we go! no more fast flash :-)

hope this will help somebody else :-)

I have just fixed mine with the same problem of the earth wire where it goes to the bulbholder,I don't know of it supposed to have a thin layer of solder holding it to the bulbholder, but I cleaned the corrosion up and applied some silicon paste and it is now OK
