oh should mention aswell i get all the gubbins that come with it..ecu and all the engine wiring/loom whatever you wanna call it

why bother, yes its been done. been done a few times in the states. i know everyone bumbs the rb blocks, but really theres nothing so much better about them that they can superseed the vg. i know the vg is tight and i know theyre a pain at times but thats cos there old. spend what your thinking of spending on that skylark block on your vg and you will have made far more power and the same realiability. the orginal fairladys had straight 6s they got vs for a reason. just my opinion of corse.

I'd like to know how much you can have the engine for, just out of jealousy really lol :whistling:

No dont you dare and go and wash your mouth out. There isnt much point tbh unless you want 800hp +

yes dave were right.

Im sure Ifty said recently he would do the conversion for £2500 if you wanted someone else to do it, or you planning on doing it yourself? Personally don't see much point, much better to spend the money modding your current lump

Get the car off him.

I know of a good r32 GTR shell.

Do that and have a nice r32, or spend them money on the z32.

Loads of work, but its up to you.

Having owned both, i wouldn't bother with the effort, id just buy a Skyline. Or keep the VG.

To be perfectly honest i cant understand all the negative comments about the VG, personally i find its as reliable as any engine, it all down to core maintenance and how much stress you stick it under.

If you are just after thrashing the pants off it, no matter what engine you have it will fail eventually.

sorry guys but who said anything about the vg not being up to the job

just got the chance of the engine which is sitting about 450bhp

but consider this going from a N/A to a turbod lump for £750(yes that cheap good m8s rates and iv helpd him out plenty of times)thats a good performance jump for the money and well be doing the swapp ourselfes so not labor costs

lets face it cant spend £750 on the vg30de and get and extra 200+ horses

just a thought just now

wanting to see how viable it is first and the complications

Well if you have a NA and his is 450hp i would rip his arm off. Infact i wouldnt of even put a post up i would of just done it

+1 to this, as yours is a N/A go for it, makes sense to be honest.

Please excuse my bluntness, no offence intended but.....what a complete pile of horse shit

£ per pony/$ per pony.....in the words of Abbey Motorsport

now please continue with the same old Wikipedia 17% yada, yada debate that's been had several times over the years (not to mention the JZ argument thrown in for good measure)

back to the original post....do it mate but factor in height/length/box/adaptor and overall cost etc etc

750 you probally couldnt convert to a tt for that cash. Chop chop

not a 450hp one lol!!!!

Mod for mod the Vg engine produces more torque than the RB, Yes the RBs are cheaper to mod because we need double of everything and eveything is almost an engine pull.

cheers guys

will need to wait a few months hofully starting a new job in the next few weeks so money flow will be allot better

but hes being incredibly cool just gave him a 100 deposit and gona pay him in installments

been on the had a look on the rbz32 forum..very insightfull and definetly doable got a few friends that are good at frbricating so

looking at realiticly having it done by the end of summer

My point exactly. So when you consider that cost is a huge factor, an RB swap is the more economically viable option for power gains.

Even when factoring in the usual RB vs VG 17%-69% 'debatable facts' it still doesn't change the one major fact that the RB is the cheaper option when gunning for bigger power gains on a lesser budget (***Note I haven't said that it's cheap or that the RB is bulletproof***) I refer back to Abbey's comment to myself, that £ per pony the RB is the better option, however if you're not intending on going above 550-600bhp then the point of an RB conversion not being worthwhile is valid.

its not THAT much cheaper. Still 6 pistons, 6 rods, 24valves, 6 injectors ..etc The only saving is that 1 Big turbo, manifold and ancillaries is a little cheaper than 2 smaller turbos....if your after a dyno queen. Also, In some cases RB parts are charged at a premium because of the "skyline" name.

...and you also have to take into account that mod for mod the 300zx makes more power and torque than the RB !

Then when you factor in the cost to buy an RB in the first place and all the fabrication and hassle getting it fitted.....then its not as cut and dry as many seem to think.
