I want to take my car to jeffs to get a few thing sorted and a few little mods.

I want him to fit a Na diff. one piece prop and my lightend pullys. If it worth fitting a lightend fly wheel?? I have heard that you lose torque and some lads said on facebook z32 club said they wished they never did it, when they change gear ect the rev drop really quick and make it horrible to drive??

Is it going to be woth the £500+ to get it done and will i notice it with the other mods??

it also aides in quicker aceleration of RPM so just change gear quicker :D Are you fitting the whole subframe along with the diff?

Yeah i think you have to. thats what jeff said hubs etc?

Just fitted new hub bushes for the hicas as well :(

Ah bummer them things aint cheap. At least the rear end will be solid though with no presence of HICAS and the aceleration difference will be pretty noticeable from what i have heard :) win win. Id get as much done as possible while it is stripped down that far.

Ive also just read on the scooby forum a few of them get juddering :(

Although mines an N/A Dave, i have a one piece lightened prop, i got from the states, lightened flywheel, underdrive pulley, water pump pulley and it makes a hell of a difference to when it was stock. Ask Voddy, i gave him a ride in it just before JAE

so you rate the flywheel then. Did you lose the grunt from the lower end. I dont really like to rev cars if you know what i mean

you don't lose grunt or anything like that mate. all you lose is that sunday driver feeling once u start with the performance mods.ie flywheel, pulleys clutch.

Well the N/A gets most of its torque higher up the rev band, but im happy with it. Bear in mind that its was an auto before, so i only have that to compare it too. Went straight for the lightened mods when i did the conversion.

When I drove Mikey Beans car with a lightened flywheel, it rev'd faster than mine and pulled just as well (Mine has a more aggressive ECU, so can't say it pulled better), so it's definitely on my mod list of todo's. Go for it!

i have a lightweight flywheel (fidenza) on mine and can say i am happy with the improved throttle response, i have coupled that with a full unorthadox pulley set and revs lovely :)

still undicided. Some say its great on the flats and on a track and are super for light cars. With the zed being a heavy car im guessing the stock fly would be better for carrying momentum and overtaking. and powering up hills. There are alot around here lol!!

Like i said im not a driver that likes to rev a car to get the power out of it. I dont like type R's I like the low end grunt.

Then somethings ive read said they do make a small differance but its not worth the gain for the cost, Lumpy tickover and a pig to get to move untill you get use to it??

Dunno where you getting your info from mate, i've never in all my years here heard a zedder complain about a lightweight flywheel.

At one time it was one of the most popular upgrades and was nearly aalways done during clutch swaps, now i can understand " a pig to move" etc if fitted with a puck clutch or similar perhaps, as they can be difficult. A change in idle too? nahhh

Go for it

smithy

i was taken out in a zed just the other day had 480hp and a lightened clutch and pulley kit the power was very smooth and progressive and felt very similar to mine in the way the power was delivered just obv there was a lot more power on tap,

the idle was sweet and it still made 450flb at around 3k id say go for it, ive heard stalling problems etc.. etc.. but that zed was running 100% and picked up really well

i doubt youd notice any differance climbing hills at the end of the day the clutch would be engauged and it would be the power of the engine driving you up the hill not the added rotational mass of a heavy flywheel

Have got a lightened flywheel going on my TT this week. For what its worth i put a lightened (Courtenay Sport) billet flywheel on my 3.0 v6 engined Calibra and it was much better all round.A stock v6 GM flywheel is around the 16kg mark, and the Courtenay sport one was around 8 or 9kg so a big difference and i never had problems going up hill etc.Once it was fitted the old girl felt very lively on throttle response and actually seemed a bit better on fuel.

i'm doing this in the next few months ..

all lightend pullys and fly

NA Diff and hopefully prop too

I've had a JWT Lightweight flywheel and an SGP Underdrive pulley fitted for years, I've noticed nothing but improvement all the way. Jeff fitted a lightweight one-piece prop last year and I've no regrets about that either. Go for it! :D

My car already had a lightened flywheel fitted when I bought it, so I cant really tell whether there is much improvment in rev response over stock. I'm perfectly happy with it though and on the open road the car feels great. the only downside that I would consider is caused by the flywheel is during town driving. I find to keep the car running smoothly, I keep it in a lower gear for longer than I would normally expect. Otherwise the car has the potential to make you look like a right fud, with a kangeroo petrol effect. Keep the revs up a wee bit and its sorted.
