Not running spigot rings on your aftermarket alloys to correct the centre bore is frowned upon because it put excess stress on the bolts. Thats fine that makes sense. However, if your running spacers even 5mm ones arent they going to have the same effect as the centre bore isnt touching? While were on the subject what is the maxiumum size spacer that can safely be used on the standard studs?

no they are simply a plastic rng that is available in differnt internal/external diameters that will allow you to take up teh gap between the centre bore on the hub and the hole in the rim

right coz iv lost one of my spigots rather the place that rebaleced my wheels lost it

so i can just use zed spigots and im good to go

Never ever ever run spigot rings. Ever !

ehh!!

iv went without a spigot ring for two days and the vibration through the streering was unbelivable

Most aftermarket wheels have a centrebore of 73mm so you need a 73mm -66.1mm the plastic ones i have are just marked 73 -66 .Ture any non hubsentic bolt on or slip on spacer will make the wheel will not centre properly but if the spacer is hubcentric to the correct z32 hub diameter of 66mm this will be ok .Also dont use any more than a 6mm spacer without using longer studs .Remember the front and rear studs have a diffrent size spline diameters the front are( m12 x1.25 pitch with a 14.3mm sline )the rear are (m12x1.25 with a 13mm spline.

I have experience that too.....

...when I had my new alloys fitted the tyre dude said there was no need for the spigots as the ZX has studs and nuts to hold the wheels in position?? And I had no vibration.

When I had the front discs replaced a few months later, I was getting steering wheel vibe at 70-80mph. I took the car in to have the wheels re-balanced and the (different) tyre fitter said whilst one wheel was "slightly" out of balance, the problem was lack of spigots. Driving home, sure enough the wheel vibes were still there.

So I put the spigot rings on myself, went out for a spin and guess what - no more vibes!!!

So I can endorse that theory.

Richard:yes:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Or Richard has the tyre fitter fully torqued up the first wheel nut without having any others on? If so that can cause vibration, yes having spigots will stop that but putting the wheel on correctly in the first place also stops it!

I'm not slagging them off butbim just saying I have never run them but I always take care when putting wheels on cars

I know what you mean mate - it was just wierd how the vibes started after my new discs were fitted and the re-balancing made little improvement until I put the spigots on.....

...as the car ran nicely without them until the new discs went on!! Just odd - would both the mechanic, and laterly the second tyre monkey, have put the wheels on wrongly? I guess anything is possible......:1eye:
