Where's my oil coming from?

I recently noticed a small patch of oil on the drive where I park my car.

Had my mechanic take a look when it was in the garage last and apparently it's coming from somewhere above the oil filter. It's not coming from any part of that area but dripping down from somewhere above.

He could look into it further but he'd basically be working blind while clocking up the money he's gonna charge me for labour.

Anyone had a similar placed oil leak or does anyone have an educated guess as to where it's likely to be coming from?

will either be from the rocker covers (usual culpret) give them a good tighten up or poss turbo oil feed pipe.

C*ck it!

Who wants to do it for me for some cash? An educated Zed owner will prob be quicker at it than a general mechanic.

Also could be the half moon that's on the back of the rocker cover, or the VVT valve, either way the plenums gunna come off before you can fix it. The turbo oil feed pipe would be the nicest one to resolve, but if he's looked around under the engine, he'd likely have seen it if it was coming from that.

There already is somewhere, quite easy just time consuming, and may as well do the plenum water bypass while there, saves all the hassle of trying to get the little water pipes back on. also a good idea to change as many of the older coolant hoses as possible.

Oh great, turn one job into a billion! :P No wonder it's time consuming!

plenum by pass is a lot quicker than trying to put the original pipes back on, and a lot less fiddly lol

yeah tahst fine vods ive had most of teh water pipes out now anyways so i can help him there. but a step by step would be great. im a bit busy next couple of weeks dave doing my manual conversion but after that i should be able to help you. you got a garage?

no lol mines going to a friends soon for the work. weather is a bit baltic atm for stuff like that. lol. and the bypass simple deletes the water hoses that are attached to the plenum itself.

parts of it are made from metal and they corode causing annoying and un reachable water leaks. theyre were put there to stop the throttle bodies freezing in cold climates. but its not cold enough here an di dont think anoyione hads ever discovered it was causing an issue phil(ultimateray) has done this bypass recently after one cracked on a summers day leaving him with water guishing out and a car getting hotter and hotter.

dave shame your not closer, id of had a look for you, and done your water bypass, but by the time you have drove up here, you may as well of gone to zedworld lol

as i say ive never done it before, ive had a few read throughs. and i think really its about care and patience. and labeling up properly. im no expert as ive never done it but im happy to learn with you.

Sounds like a plan. Considering it's only a tiny leak at the moment I might leave it a little bit until I got the funds to change the injectors at the same time.

No don't think so. Car's running tip top at the moment (he says), it's ;iterally just that small patch of oil that bugged me.

cant be that bad then mine does lol. its a warm weather job for sure those hoses and wires will be far lkess britle in teh warmth. tahst my main concern is damage tio the loom.
