Ok so i have the dilemma of picking a car to stand in while i build my zed. Budget is up to 3k and all these are within it.

Now this car is gonna be my main sports car for at least a year with very little mods going onto it unless i see bargains :D

I just need the power under my foot still cant be driving the truck alone for a year haha. Plus everyone loves a poll.

So here we go see above for the model. All 3 i have wanted to own since i was a kid and somehow ended up with a zed :punk:

My heart says RX7. had a ****el guess what went on it.

My head says GtSt (with a few choice mods)

My fantasy is a supra tt aerotop and pulling up to a ferrari and saying "whats the retail on one of those" my heart would sink as I watched it disappear into the sunset thinking I wish I had a 2jz Turbo.

lol the site censored an inoffensive word that's ****. The missing word is wa.nkel

Buy the Trans Am

wow nice find :)

Please dont get me wrong here, all the Jap suggestions were well respectable ! But I feel as if you need a wee change ?

Yeah yeah, you have all the stuff about Yanks only going in a straight line (normally from folks who have never had one) But as its only short term, try it ? You may be surprised ? If you think a Zed gets looks, try driving a Yank !!:batman:

A lot of folks immediately jump to Ebay ? Be honest, how many of you did ?? Have a wee look on Autotrader and there is a few Yanks on there !!

My Yank is long and wide, a coont to park, turning circle of an oil tanker and I stil wouldnt part with it !! Actually using it every day at the moment as my Mondeo is getting a set of injectors fitted and its returning 23 mpg at 70 mph in cruise !:cool2: Still in single figure if I play tho !

Alan........

I personally don't like autos (I'd rather drive the car myself) and ifyou don't want to be sinking money into it then you're not gonna want to go near the RX-7. It would definitely be the skyline for me out of those choices.

i picked up a 5.5 V8 AMG merc for under 7 grand nearly 4 years ago ...its just done 70,000 miles has 380bhp and a semi auto / sequential gearbox ..0-60 just 0ver 6 secs and pulls like a train ........they go for peanuts now ...around 3.5 grand .....

personally id have an S14a easily get a half decent one for under 3K

great fun, fairly quick, and not as bad as a zed on fuel.

but failing that an RX-7 all the way,

rx7 no way you spend so much time faffing with that that you would never finish your other project. everyone even lovers of them say money pit. also i know il get flamed for it but from the wrong angle esp in red and standard they look very simular to an mx5 now who wants that mistake.

r33 in honesty isnt it just a bit samey to the zed simular power figures to a tt, rear wheel drive same manufacturers very simular suspension compents etc etc. if it where a gtr with its awd and you could have some winter and early spring fun hell yeah. but the gtst nahhhh.

the na supras are again so simular a car as a basic set up rear drive simular power to your na slicky. and as for going yank.....hrm i was very torn by that ages camero/transam same car underneath. i wanted that v8 rumble etc but i found tbh the power lacked the shout. the fuel injection systems whilst better on the later ones recived a lot of flack, many of the local yank guys rip it out and carb it to cause less of a headache. i still love the shape of the iroc cameros and more over the sound. try it they are good fun and do turn heads, but you were looking for a sports car.

all jokes aside and i know i already slated them but what about an mx5 its got no street cred it isnt fast and it isnt pretty but they handle very well and are a hoot to drive and are very cheap and realiable. you could buy one trash it about have some sideways fun then sell it on for very simular money 12 months later.

either that or a stagea????? :)

Lexus Soarer ??? V8 or TT

a mate has a TT (1JZ), nice cars and quick, however the system has been restricted and the back turbo seems to be a regular problem... parts are a bit harder to come by than for the z...

If you do a bit of work on one it will go like stink, my mate did a single turbo conversion with intercooler and the difference is amazing.

a regular issue seems to be the fuel pump as well...

I don't know much about the V8 but it's not as quick.

I would still like a 348 spyder, but ist the cost for so few miles a year (less than 400 in the zed last year)
