I thought I was quite good at cleaning cars and never really knew how much there is to it.

Have Just been looking around at various sites regarding detailing and was wondering what does everyone here use and why?

Stages and the cleaning product.

I find Meguiars products to be very good, used their claybar kit on my last car (white V6 Calibra DTM Edition) and the paintwork felt like glass afterwards, was very impressed. On the Zed i use their shampoo, then polish followed by a wax. Also use the shampoo on my wheels and they clean up perfectly.

I use turtle wash and wax a sponge and a bucket then let the sun to dry. no point in detailing a black car unless at a show :(

Thanks for the responses. It is uber hard to keep a black car looking good.

Have found myself looking at buffers, pads and even gadgets that measure your paint thickness.

I am tempted to go for this for starters:
