Following on from my previous post i have done a compression test this morning and pleased to say all 6 are at 170 or a couple either side but non of them are down on compression.

However i still have the poor starting problem and all 6 plugs are black surgesting over fueling.

Anyone point me in the right direction on what could be causing my poor starting?

No boost leaks

new engine wiring loom

all injectors tested and all have 12 ohm resistance

new injector seals

please help its doning my head in!

Well thats good news, did you ever do a basic ECU diagnostic to see if any errors like ECU water temp sensor are coming up?

Whats your fuel pressure like.......i had a duff fpr on a v6 calibra once and you had to turn it over quite a bit to get pressure up, changed the fpr and it would fire first flick after that.

As far as I'm aware its not the right thing to do... you shouldn't clean the MAF with anything that leaves a residue... (non-residue spray on electrical contact cleaner, only)

that will only cause problems...

need to see what Jeff says about doing this....

How's your timing? can be a major cause of difficult starting.

Also, is it always from cold? might be worth checking if the auxiliary air device is opening, you could try disconnecting the pipework prior to it and allowing a tad of air in.

Worth a shot.

yeah my timing is good had a conzult on it a few weeks ago and was at 15tdc. and yes only when its cold and i may be being dumb here but dont know what you mean by auxiliary air device? is this the AAV unit?

Yes the aav at the back of the engine pass side.

I'd get your timing checked with a gun as well just to be sure. Vodkashots timing was at 30 but conzult said it was at 15.

Not sure on the procedure for checking the fpr on a zed, some cars have a schrader valve on the injector rail you can connect a pressure gauge to (most vauxhalls have) to measure the fuel pressure.

I had this once, caused by duff water temp sensor. Ecu over fuels to compensate, also caused the aircon elec fan to come on
