I'm getting a noise.

Kind of an exhaust heat shield rattle but a much lower tone and nearer the front. It happens at low revs briefly when there is pressure on the engine (i.e. pulling away).

Had it in the garage but can't make it make the noise at standstill so my mechanic can't find it.

It's certainly not a heat shield on the exhaust as I have a full mongoose system now with decats and it's still doing it.

Been like this since I got the car about 10 months ago and I've finally had enough.

Any ideas..??

there is a little heat shield passenger side front over fuel lines kinda just in between the front of the door and just back from the wheel. mine rattles as i pull away but with careful feathering of the revs till i get past about 3 mph i can usually keep it to a minimum. Really should pull my finger out and secure the shield properly.

had a similar noise on mine, was a rattle from the gearbox only at certain low rev points.

Where do they land?

Your guess is as good as mine?, ive lost a total of 2 x 10mm spanners and a 14mm socket in the engine bay, i can see the socket stuck on top of the exhaust manifold near turbo pipe, but cant get it at, god knows where the spanners are...

In answer to your thread, does it only make this noise when driving, as could be something above gearbox, loads of places for stuff to go missing.

Yep, only when driving and only at low revs when I put pressure on the engine.

Pablito's symptoms sound just like mine. The rattle can be avoided if you're careful but it's doing my nut in and makes me look silly in front of the school girls when I'm "cruising for tang"

Sussex Stu - Maybe you need one of those telescopic magnets or maybe just not have butter fingers... :P

if you get the car up on a lift then it's an absolute doddle. there are 2 little shields which kind of overlap and clip to each other.... any tiny bit of movement or give and hey presto.. dodgy low horrible rattle.

If on axle stands then its a bit harder to get to, but a bit of bending or jiggery pokery and you should be good to go, I am tempted just to remove the shields altogether, but I'm sure that can't be the safest option.

Chris, your motor is getting some serious love recently..... I'm looking forward to seeing her finished
