how common is it for a 1990 300zx model mileage having 43000 on the clock, can it be genuine or should alarm bells start ringing. cheer

If its an import. i would say very common. because any import car will be clocked unless its backed up with papers :(

well im not to sure if its an import saw the ad on gumtree this morning being the car was not to far from where i live i showed intrest."moted till august.full veilside kit,f50 fibreglass bonnet.tein suspension, custom made exhaust.18" alloys.tinted windows, uprated brakes, boost.large front mounted intercooler" that was the saler's description of the car there was no pics. i emailed and he said he was gonna send me a few pics. He was considering a px with my corolla sr. its a fairlady tt in crawley west sussex and his only asking 2500.

Also, 43,000 miles doesn't guarantee it'll be any good anyhow. For example the suspension will still be tired if its using the same bushes that it left the factory with, also the body is just as likely to be suffering from corrosion. If the engine hasn't been regularly serviced and the timing belt done - again, it means nothing.

Whatever you buy, accept that it'll probably need a few hundred quid chucking at it to get it into a road worthy state for regular use. Not many of these cars have been well cared for - certainly not cheap ones. A low mileage example that's been cherished will command a premium over the abundance of tat that is available, so as Gary said, the condition of the car will give a much clearer indication than what is stated on the mileometer. Not wishing to sound too pessimistic, but these cars can be a money pit if you buy a wrong 'un. Get a forum member to help check the car out if you have any doubts at all...

Could be markie123 a member on here, he lives in crawley and his is bayside blue, me and sonic006 went over last year and helped him with it.

Nice car, but had a few issues..

Email him and ask if he is the same member on here.

On auto's, with those suffering from the speed sensor fault, the miles that you clock up whilst it's faulting at the time won't reflect the actual mileage either. Just play about with the interior. The condition will reflect the mileage (such as worn gearsticks, painted numbers missing on the wipers, rips and tears in the leather (although it can be down to the sun shining on the seats).

And check around the screwholes on the clocks too. It's hard not to mark the screws if it's been removed.

Mine is on minus 15,452, I forgot and went out whilst doing the Ferris Bueller method

So I must be in line for that coveted trophy this year

once you have taken the cluster out you see how easy it is to clock a zed, without any outside signs. so as gary said go on condition not milage. unless its backed up in paper. my car has appratly done 89000 but i dont believe that.

Surely it will be the highest :lol:

My odometer wasn't working when I bought mine, upon closer inspection, someone had super glued all the cogs/numbers together! So who knows how long ago that was done...
