That's what i was thinking. he have to call the alarm people. out he will not be happy just paid them over £100 to service the alarm

Just because you have charged the battery does not mean that it has enough juice to start the car. If one of the battery cells is duff it wont have enough AMPS to start the car.

Best get it checked out ASAP at least it may be a cheap fix.

Fingers crossed

I had this with my Saxo, there is a fuel cut off switch in the top right of the engine bay, looks like a little black box with a red cap on it. check you havnt knocked that? i think you take the cap off and press the button to reset it.

Is this on the Zed or the Saxo ? Didn't know the Zed had a cut off switch.

Do the lash lights go out when you try to start it ? If so you probably have a bad earth or a dead battery.

if the battery has drained its dead

If car batts drop below 9V they just die and you can charge them up and will read 12V but the drop voltage will be about 1V time to get a new battery.

?

Since when? ive had my zed battery as flat as a pancake before due to forgetting to turn the pc off in the boot, good 24 hours of charge and its been right as rain and still working fine now.

A battery on a zed with enough power to put lights on your dash but not to start it will just make the starter motor click.

Just out of curiosity is this a auto? if so have you checked to make sure its actually in the P position, as any other position other than N will make it not start, and you will get nothing when turning the key, not even a starter motor sound.

keep doing that then its clever i tell you

did you test it on a drop tester

it starts the car, never had a problem with car battery's dying due to going flat, im sure if that was the case and the problem was as bad as you state it, then there would be a lot more dead battery's out there, if you tested a battery on a drop tester, are you sure it wasn't a dodgy battery to start with?

my pug 406 would drain the batter dead as well if you forgot to turn the front engine fan off (had a dodgy connection so was just wired to a switch in the dash)

seriously having had dead car battery's due to failing to turn things off, I've never killed one to the point it needed replacing. i think car battery technology has moved on a lot; for what you describe not to happen that often.

I'm also talking from experience of draining car batteries dry due to leaving things on. not because its faulty. charged it up, works fine. infact i still have that pug 406 battery and its managed to start my zed when i had to charge the zed battery due to leaving the PC on. and that thing had sat for almost 2 years.

just last week i had a battery die on a mates car after his gf left the interior light on just wouldnt hold a charge. You seem to be lucky with it however continuing to do it just depletes the life of a battery further new technology or no new technology

It could of just been a duff battery, any rechargeable battery will deplete in life expectancy due to being charged, a car battery is no different, but not holding a charge after being depleted and then recharged, id actually suspect the battery to be at fault and not due to the interior light, the interior light may have just highlighted the problem that was already there to start with and not because it was drained.

when i worked in a garage the amount of times ive seen people bring battery's in due to incorrect charging, incorrect fitting, or faulty alternators, duff battery's although they happened, were not that comment to be honest.

I be going back round he house today as hes not there. Will re check the connections on the battery, It just strange all the lights and dash work and you can hear the oil pump going. But no click from the starter.

starter might be duff, you iddnt say wether it was auto or not may be worth jump starting it, take the starter out the equation. good luck.

right so goes from starting fine to stuff being left on and then down to 1V on the drop tester after being charged. Well in my expert knowledge the fact that things have been left on have killed the battery in essence as it reduces the ceiling that a battery can be charged to.

Maybe you have super battery with built in cut off switches

However getting back to the fault in hand on the thread drop test the battery and see what voltage you are getting my expert opinion without seeing it is that it is knackered even jump start and leave it for an hour then see if it will take a charge.

well we found the problem its the starter. We pushed the car and got it started in second. Run fine switched the engine off and it was dead again. so new starter thanks for all the help out there.

if the battery is faulty, you might still be able to bump start it and get the above result. If the starter was working ok before the battery went flat, it should still be working now. (unless it's bad luck and coincidence) i would get someone experienced to look at it and give you a second opinion before you go to the expense of a new starter.

I would say it is the alternator that could be at fault aswell as the battery if you had it running ,it shouldve put a bit of charge into the battery,eve3n if the battery is goosed
