Bl@#dy Windscreen!

Picked my daughter up earlier and as soon as she sat in the passenger seat she said "Dad, is your windscreen cracked?".....and bugger me it is!, in the bottom lefthand corner.

Rang my insurance and luckily I can get it replaced for a £80 excess, but still a p.i.t.a :(

Last time i remember you cannot get hold or the bronze screens and they have to be imported. iirc one insurance company would not pay out for the bronze one and would only supply a blue screen :(

Can you not get a screen off a breaker ?

Likely be alot cheaper then £80 for a courier and fitting.

I must be in the wrong country, here even if you supply the windscreen the fitting alone would be 150 quid.

They said they can do green or blue, which is good as mines a green tint.to be honest I dont mind as long as theres no crack and no scratches!, as my old screen is quite scratched.

Lol, more of a hands on person myself and was thinking along the line of fit it yourself !:whistling:

As the windscreen actually adds to the structural strenght I would rather have it bonded professionally :), plus id end up with sealer in my hair and up my nose :)

dead easy to fit a window screen. Tons of sealant and just plonk it into place. make sure its all square and leave to set for 24hrs :)

91 reg wow, very lucky for a green tint. is it green on the side windows etc?

You can see in this photo what it looks like when they don't match, was like this when I got it and it bugs me! Its an import so bronze tint, but windscreen obviously been replaced at somepoint and has the blue tint.

Had a telephone conversation with the fitter this morning saying the appointment shouldnt have been booked as they cant locate a screen and the only one they list is blue! :)

Then got a call back 10 mins later to say they can do it wednesday and they have located a bronze screen with a green top tint so happy days :)

You may find that the one they bring is not OEM but a Pilkington copy, do not worry about this at all as they are perfect.

Mine just cracked one day and I just paid excess, the same as yours with it being bronze with the green strip :thumbup1:
