How come we dont have any proper monster zeds on here.

Ive been on the fiat coupe forum for a few days now and omg every year they just keep getting more and more power out of it, and they seem to be really easy to mod.

When i had mine 280hp was the norm and i was running about 350hp which was alot, now it seems to be alot are running around the 450hp and this is the norm and a lot of them doing track days and on stock internals

This is a wicked result. its Barbz car and he tuned my coop and he just keeps getting more and more power.

Also look how smooth the power is. there are one or 2 now over the 600hp mark.

Looking at todays figures and the weight of the coop i would think twice about taking on one :hammer:

wtf!

from what i've read so far on the net and through other petrol heads.....apparantly the z32 can run around the 700hp mark at stage 2 chip with freeflowing exhaust . good induction kit. can't remember the site but there's a breakdown and dyno results for an auto tt.thats still an everyday driver. i'll try find it

no chance, not a single zed is running that on here and they have spent like 20K lol!!

Watch this space.......

Thats because they are buying the wrong stuff for 20k

I have big plans and will be over 700 maybe 800.

Those that have spoken to me know the spec :D

Gotta spend the money in the right places and on proper gear...

700hp out of a Z is easily achieveable, but to do it right you'd be spending at least 8-10k on the motor and another 2-3k on engine control and tuning.

You're looking at - injectors, turbos, dual intake, extractors, test pipes, free flwoing exhaust, upgraded cams, port and polish titanium valves, intercoolers, adjustable cam gears... and possibly upgraded pistons and rods.... then you've got your fuel system which is going to require surge tanks and some seriously beefy pumps, braided fuel lines.

I'm sure that list could go on alot further, the powers achievable with the right parts to very successfully run a daily driven 700hp Z

But chances are by the time you buy all that your fuel bill will be so high you'll never drive it.

I mean hell there are guys in the drifting championship here running sr20det at 730hp.

Don't last very long though lol

It can be done...

I always thought traditionally the Z is always a space issue, as there are only so much room to mount the twin turbo setup.

But with newer modern turbo such as the Garrett GTX series, smaller turbo are efficient up to over 2 Bar of boost, and that mean you can really push the engine now while retaining reasonable boost response.

The only thing I find problematic with high bhp is traction...

With my R32 and the 4WD system turn off... the car feel deadly.

Put the paddle on the floor and the car will spin up the tyres in most gear with the turbo kick in... All things consider the kick is not too violent already as it is a somewhat modern turbo.

Will be great to see a Z back on track as they were the original "Japanese Muscle" in the American drag racing scene along with the Supra. :)

Problem is dave, there shitty cars that no one but us likes... All jokes aside, there not very common mosdt garages cant or wont touch them, to do anything like injectors and tubs is a pain in the ass. also itx about usage, how driveable is a zed with 500 horses with no traction control? We all know the answer.

mine's great :) with the right suspension and tires they are fine, mine holds full boost in 2nd gear, just throws you down the road, no fuss.

You're right about injectors etc, it starts getting very expensive and a load of hassle once you've done the usual chip / exhaust/intake.

On top of that, even if you're prepared to spend the money, getting it all to work together afterwords is still a challenge

what's the fiat like with 550hp through the front wheels?

What suspension setup and tyres are you using Jaffa?

Nitron 3way adj coilovers, adjustable arms everywhere, solid subframe & diff bushes, poly bushes everywhere else on a slicktop with 10pt weld in cage

tires are 19" 305/30 R888

I think you'll find my car has rather more. And I don't have problems with traction. Be nice to see some more zeds at TOTB (or Fiats come to that lol). 28th 29th July which is surely enough notice for all the guys who say they needed more :)

aparntly very good. i very rarely broke traction with 350. barbz spins in 2nd and grips in 3rd on the track. h was raceing a zo6 but that was before the mapping

Awesome! By solid subframe you mean it has solid mounts to the chassis right? Is that a really harsh ride?

Those tyres look mean and cost a pretty penny. Do 305's fit in the arches or did you have to modify the inner arch or are you a wideboy, there's nothing in your rides. Build thread anywhere?

There have been plenty of "Monster Z'eds" on here in the past but the trouble is they something seems to break on them within a month of it acheiving 500, 600 or 700+ BHP!! Then the owners seem to loose interest and you never ever hear about them again or they end up getting broken for spares!!! Been on this forum for a long time now and it would just be nice to hear of something running 500+ Bhp that's used regulary and not failed yet!!!

Jimmers Z is near enough 500bhp and never heard of the engines he's done for people going wrong but not sure what they are putting out. What's the most common causes of failure? Are people just trying to get to much out of stock engines or not setting them up right?

Mine's 750 at the fly.

I did over 3000 miles on that engine before it needed rebuild. That includes fast road, half a dozen sessions at santa pod, competed at TOTB, and about half a dozen track/testing sessions at silverstone.

There are a few other guys who race their zeds including hillclimb, sprint, and drag. They just don't tend to spend their life on the forum - they'd rather be driving their cars :)

talking about stock internals i was shocked when i joined s2ki to find there are lots of people in the USA running 500whp+ and a couple with over 700whp all with a stock motor! any way it cost's a lot to keep a z running at that power un less you have a few spare penny's for all those rebuilds and fuel

Same on the U.S Z forums.

A z or s2k?

That would be a really confusing sentence to someone that didn't know what it meant lol

On the high powered builds what is it that actually wares out that requires it to be rebuilt after a measly 3000 miles? I appreciate it's being pushed the entire time if it's doing track work etc but seems extreme. Is it a case of high performance parts but high rate of ware on everything?
