Are the one piece props balanced?

What's the views on carbon fibre props, does the extra cost justify the benefits? Anywhere in the UK do them cheap?

I'd hope so!!! :sweatdrop:

Zedworld sell one-piece props off the shelf I think. Carbon ones would cost a lot more I should imagine for minimal gain for a regular road car.

Yeah Zedworld ones were £150 from what I remember

Richard hammond did an experiment with a standard prop and a carbon prop, they put them in a jig and twisted one end of each,I cant remember the figures but the carbon one took 7x's as much twisting and forvce than the standard steel one,I think it was engineering connections or something like that

I understand that, but at what point is a normal one piece prop no good and you NEED a carbon one? is it an unspoken rule i.e. over 500bhp or something?

I agree unless you have a monster Power Zed there is no point, but if you have and are going down the dragstrip all the time they have there uses but on a standard car they are pointless

Not pointless if you've done the basic mods. A lightweight prop should give faster acceleration, quicker throttle response, less stress on gearbox especially syncromesh, as they are tougher they will last longer, torque figure at the wheels should go up as well. If you can afford one get one

Yes Jeff's props are balanced, lighter smooth in operation and with no center bearing you have no worry on it failing

mines at zed world now having one of jeffs fitted .,,very nice bloke hes doing a few other bits and bobs to

cheers boys great help

I've got both an ACPT carbon prop and a Z1 platinum lightweight prop. There's a couple of gram difference in the weight only so not much gain there. The real benefit is if the prop breaks the carbon one shatters and the steel one pokes you up the @rse lol

haha, brilliant!! :lol::lol::lol: :clap:

The ali prop is 22 llbs (so Z1 say) and the carbon one is a little less but I am getting the carbon rebalanced so chances are it will weigh the same when done :)

Do you fancy doing a deal on whichever you don't use bud?

I'll be using the carbon when balanced but will likely keep the ali one as a spare at least for this year :)

Actually I wanted a set of wheels so if you were to resurrect your for sale thread we could maybe do a deal there if you like :)

Are you after those lightweight 18" RAYS that I've got on the shortie at the moment mate?

They've got Pirelli P Zero 275/35/18's on the rear and brand new (not even done 30 miles yet) Falken 225/40/18's on the front

Off the top of my head the width/offsets are 8.5" front (ET +38) and 9.5" rear (ET +33) or offset the other way round, either way they fit fine?

I took the centre caps off so that the local scroat bags don't rob them but I've got all 4 ready to go back on

here are some quick pics (excuse the quality they were taken with my phone)

so are we talking carbon prop here then?

How awkward are these to fit?. Without the centre peice to bow a little, how do you get these to fit in place?

Carbon it is :)

Not difficult as the spline is over 100 mm and the joint just slides across. In fact probably easier than the two piece :)

Carbon it is :)

Ok, let me get you some close ups of the rims tomorrow in the daylight mate

I'll PM them across to you bud
