Anyone else had this??

For some reason every now and then my speedo reads 0mph until I get to about 20-30mph or give the accelerator a boot. I know its not the clocks as my Apexi AVCR shows the same, so Im guessing ECU fault???

any idea's welcome?

Thanks Craig

If your AVCR shows the same and it's spliced into the speed sensor, then yeah, it'll be an ECU fault. I'm guessing yours isn't stock either?

Just read one of jeffs tech threads, sounds like its actually the speed sensor coming loose from the housing, easy fix so ill have a play tomorrow.

i should know by now that search is my friend.

indeed ;) lol

the fact that it is till you get up to speed makes it more likely to be the clocks or a km/h to m/h converter or a combination of the two

dodgy speed sensor tends to happen at any speed

if your avcr is picking up the speed signal just before or after the ECU (or even off the clocks but after the speedo) then this doesnt disprove it

the speed signal goes from the speed sensor to the clocks, stuff happens (signal changes), it then goes to the ECU and all other speed sensitive stuff.

dry joints in the solder of the speedo can stop the signal getting through until you get to a certain speed and the signal is "big " enough to break through the bad joint. km to mile converters reduce this signal before it arives at the speedo making the effect worse/more common

Ahh Cheers Ian ill pull the clocks out aswell then and take a look? ill double check the speed sensor aswell to make sure its not pulling itself apart?

Mine does that and I've put it down to the Kph to mph converter .....

Not that much of a problem because I'm only momentarily at 15mph speeding up or slowing down

mines recenctly started it but my steering goes heavy at the same time. only does it like every thirdf time i use it not a regular issue but once ive floored it a few times it comes back.
