someone on another thread put up a site in japan, that has the beets abflug kit ive dreamed of, changed the currency to GBP and its coming in at just shy of 3k, ok add on import tax and fitting and spraying probably looking at around 5k - 6k in total.

Just wonder how much modifications to the original body work would be required to get it on the car. as mine needs the drivers sill welding before the next MOT, was wondering if it might be an idea to get that done, while i save for the kit and get that put on once all repair work has been done. that way i can get the spray job done at the same time as fitting, would just mean id have to drive around with a half complete car for a bit, but should be able to get it on the car by end of next year and ive always wanted that kit since i seen it. would go well with the abflug type 4 front bumper and at least id have a full abflug kit as well then.

yeah but think of it like this, most people spend that kind of cash chasing BHP which i think is pointless for the open road. i may as well spend that making my car look good, with a decent set up, not too slow not to fast.

Though once I've got the look i want, will most likely go for an engine overhaul LOL

dont get me wrong if i had the money for it id more than happily pay for it but what you looking at maybe 10k finished? im more for making my car look good rather than faster its a fast car as it is

can customs be any more skirtier about what the bloody charges are? just read the website, and they say they charge a % of the total value if the value is over £132 but do not say what %? how the friggin hell are you supposed to work anything out?

I understand the VAT 20% rip off merchants. but still at least thats almost set in stone.

nvm, found it, though ive had to guestimate at a few things, jesus as if they charge you for getting insurance on it, what a joke

matey if it has to sit in the garage collecting dust for 2 years before i fit it, im going to get it lol

foookin hell!!!! changed your mind yet lol!!

not sure im going to ever change my mind, if im going to keep my car and ever go wide, thats the kit im going to do it with, its not as wide as the other kits avalible but i think that goes towards how lovely it looks

When importing from the Us on a regular basis i allowed 21% in total of the item cost and the shipping cost, that was fairly accurate tbh

I know this is Japan but perhaps similar.

There are companies who will purchase in japan for you and give fairly accurate inclusive costs including taxes etc mate.

I did have a price and actually ordered it a few years ago but it all fell through sadly...

aww that would of looked lovely on your car, is that when you had the black one matey?

ive got an idea, i sell my car, get the kit then get a cheaper zed to fling it on lol (joking by the way)

Everyone has different views on here about the zed. Everyone has their own dreams and how much money they are willing to spend. If you don't want to have those dreams of a show winning zed then fine by you. Im quite happy to drop 50k into my zed to complete it as I would never sell it I'd just buy something else if I wanted a new project. If voddy has them dreams then let him go for it and stop talking about it costs too much of cause it does if you want what no one else has or everybody would be throwing wide arch kits on.

I know when im done I will win shows and be top of the dyno board but hey its my money to burn I earn it. If you can't afford it then stick with what you have and support others not just put them down with your views cos you can't do it too much of that on this forum.

thanks bud, trust me as much as it does cost a bit, i still think its going to be worth it. im not interested in leaving the 300zx scene just yet.

Any guesstimation' on a timeline for this project mate?

id say about year to get the kit. dont want to leave my self in a position where i need to cut into the kit funds.

then it will be a case of seeing at the time it arrives what the likely hood is going to be with getting it fitted and in what time frame.

Need to get a bit of body work done first before i go putting a kit like that on as its going to hide so much. would rather not stick it on a rusting zed if you know what i mean.

12 years

value of the car may have risen by then lol

its ok cooldel, i understand what hes saying, i know some people cant justify spending that kind of cash on a body kit.

I just think it suits the zed a lot better than most that are out there, but thats my own opinion. if it takes me 12 years (thanks dave ) then so be it.

anyway that post by gonzo reminded me of something.
