Personally the 2.5in unless you plan on doing a full 3in exhaust system?

But also because the pipes are for left hand use, now this isn't a major problem as there is room easily with the 2.5in ones, with a 3in one and the steering rack and a bend in the pipe the wrong way cos we are UK, hmmm i'd go 2.5in like the others generally do...

The last bit referrs to gaskets required, you have the option to buy gaskets that fit just the turbo end or just the test pipe end ( de catts to us) or you can have both.

thanks m8 .. do you think there would be a problem with clearance with this size of turbo ..

The 2560 and the 28's while I'm asking?

Anthony

the 2560r are the New number for the 28's

Old 28s are Jernal 360 bearing 2560r are Dual Ball Bearing with the correct compressor cover fitted for ower cars

thanks m8 .. do you think there would be a problem with clearance with this size of turbo ..

Nope mate.

Just noticed tho the link you supplied was for 200sx turbo's on the TD website, you have priced them up for 300zx fitment, ie: a left and right hand turbo?

and deffo a 5 stud fitment for the downpipe?

yep all ready spoke to them abut it being clocked and 5 bolt down pipe thats why i asked about size

I'm sending my old ones for them to put them in the right place and make the bracket for the actuator on the turbo that needs clocking ..

it was them that recommended that turbo as well as getting the specs of turbos that would fit ..

Price on there site is not what i'm paying

Phew! :-)

Last thing, the one great benefit of TD's supplied turbo's over TT ones is that they generally fit stagger gap piston ring seals, which is good for our cars, did they mention those were fitted by any chance?

smithy

It's the rear seal that goes on turbo's over time but often helped along when back pressure is changed in the system by de catting and going too large in exhaust diameter.

Just ask them to fit em at time of ordering mate, chances they already will but didn't mention.

can any one help been offered some stock a/r.42 t28 Turbos from R32 ...

does any one know where i can find the specs ... as there not on the garrett site

Buy a turbo for the 300zx, or if they're too expensive, then get yours reconditioned

The hassle and heartache of making something else to fit will soon undo the savings and even then you'll have mixed results

Ditto, plus if they stock of an R32 then they either as old as zed ones or been renewed at some point.

That's a mighty low AR though!

Turbo's is something that should not be done as cheaply as possibly and fiddlying to make fit, you don't wanna be taking the engine out more than once if you can help it, unless your bored and can do it yerself like :-)

engine taking in/out isnt a problem as i do that my self ..

the turbos have been offered cheap

and i was going to rebuild them so with a new rebuilt set gonna cost me £600 quid inc cost of turbos ... and if thay have a spec close to 2560r's ... then thats a saving over a grand ..

and the only difficalty in fitting them is needing the 5 stud down pipes .. have to do that with the 2560s

Edited by MarkDerby

By buying turbo's already made to fit the Zed it would just save you clocking them as well, as our turbo's are handed, which is no real biggie.

Your clearly wanting to go bigger, so obviously the cost differs too, you could of course stick with a simple stage 1 upgrade as a t25 for the zed and be done with it.

However if cost is really an issue mate, then best go for which ever way is the cheapest you can do it.

Youv'e got plenty of info above to help you decide.

Been on the phone to T-D ..

£606 x2 = £1212 Turbos GT2560R

£120 ............... Clocking and Reset inc Bracket/Actuator Worst case on Price could be cheaper

£45 x2 = £90 for upgraded Closed Lock oil seal Fitted

£13 P&P

£1435 + VAT £1722

Can not believe i just been spanked for Turbos :( ..

my car better perform good ...

Could they have not just given you a price on a pair of stage 2 hybrids for the Zed fitment, no extra costs.

smithy

  • Author

yes they did just depends if turbos are usable

550 x2

45 x2 for upgraded oil seal

13 p&p

£1443.60 inc vat

so that would only save me £278.40

for units that would not Perform the same

and not ball bearing

and used Kinda

its not far off the same price
