I have put a complete stainless exhaust system on but with no 02 sensor holes so no 02 sensors plugged in yet would this be why my fuel pump doesn't prime the fuel?

Featured Replies

Unplugging the O2 sensors gives it a base rating. ive unplugged mine for now as i need to change one of them and havent got around to doing it yet lol

No relation to the fuel pump at all,

So your new system starts as high up as the turbo's then? your not talking about the car sensors lower down?

Yes smithy stainless manifolds , can't figure out my fuel pump issue just clutching at straws really so probs get it up to zed world,

Yikes big money then!!

Who done all that for yer?

In the side panel by your right foot drivers side is a Green relay sends the ECU signal to the fuel pump, so try that.

Assume the car won't start then?

Theres also another small fuse/relay for the pump in the small fuse box in engine bay next to the brake booster.

I've just picked bits up as I go along, some was on the car some wasn't ,you know. Yeh I have tinkered with that relay but I have pulled the engine out to do lots of bits but now it's back in the fuel pump doest work so I'm suspecting an earth! But I have checked for some and can se any loose or spare

First off do a basic ECU self diagnostic to ensure no other fault is present, only takes 10mins.

If your a 100% that both the fuse and the relay in the drivers foot panel area and the small fuse box by brake booster are fully working, you have 2 last options i can think off.

The ECU sends a signal to the Green relay, the function within the ECU that does this can blow, not often, but it happend to me many years ago.

swapping ECU's is a quick way of telling.

Lastly a fuel pump problem, however even more rarer than the ECU problem.

Do your ECU diagnostic first and report back what code it gives you.

Hi smithy yeh done that already code 55 so alls good I've got a spare ecu so will give that a whirl, thanks for the advice

how have you confirmed the fuel pump doesn't prime? Perhaps you've done what a few on here have done and got the fuel hoses the wrong way around when putting it back together? Easy done.

Good point I shall check that aswell, would that stop the pump priming though?

How have you confirmed it isn't?

Well I put the ignition on and no noise from the pump at all, and car turns over but won't start, I know the pump works I've tested it, I have done an Auto to manual conversion and bridged the ihibiter switch, but Im sure I have checked the green relay by the footwell before but will check again, when I check the power going to fuel pump ecu the thick orange cable has no power, but I know it's more complicated than that
