I went round scs in leeds and the sale person wouldnt leave us alone i said we are just looking and then got a woman follow us around we saw one and stopped to look and within seconds she was saying doyou like it do you want price etc ,so i said yes but wanted time to look around on our own and for that reason ill not get one from her ,i got one from CSL inthe end no hastle at all and paid in full as there was a £1600 finance fee so over 3yrs . But most doninterest free now ..happy shopping jimmer!!!

A mate at work spent £1400 on a dfs sofa and he is on his third one in just over a year, god knows why he got obe from there seeing as we work for a interior design company. If it's just you and mrs and your not planning on keppong it long term do it, but put kids in the mix and they may not hold up. Buying sofas is like buying car parts, buy right buy once!

It comes down to budget though...

Thanks for the repiles guys, im looking at spending around £1500 i suppose, would love to spend more but i have a load of building work to undertake in the front room and hallway so thats gonna zap a bit of lolly.I heard loads of bad stuff about how shoddy DFS Stuff is,and then did some homework on SCS and every review i found was negative, sofa damaged, breaks in months, not delivered for weeks when promised.Jesus its a minefield.I know all these places say the chairs have a ten year guarantee but from what ive gathered they usually dont honour it.

we spent a grand on a couple of sofas from SCS, excellent service from them and they werent pushy at all, got it interest free over 3 years. After living with them for a year they aren't particularly comfy now, but thats no fault of the actual sofas, maybe we should have shopped around a bit more.

I've just bought a set from Debenhams, got 70% off to in the sale.

Let you know what its like when it turns up.

FFS, please don't buy one from DFS, we got a 3 piece suite from them, worst we have ever owned in our 27 years of marriage, they came out to see us and basically said we shouldn't be sitting on it, or to play musical chairs and keep swapping seats!!!! Never again, absolute nightmare.

PS, it cost 2,200 bloody quid, could have got as better one off eBay or elsewhere for a lot less.

The last suite I bought was a 3 and 2 seat sofa set, cream leather and were absolutely mint. £80 off Ebay :) I just cant comprehend how the prices are justified in Argos never mind DFS! :)

got my suite from Next ..had it 3 years its still like new and comfy as your favourite jumper ....cost a bit more than DFS SCS by about 300 quid for an equivolent but by god has it been worth the extra spent...

Got our corner suite from DFS, cost about £1500 and as sofa's go, it been great! Cushions have lasted will and are still nice and soft, no breakages or tears etc, more than happy

We bought a leather suite 8 years ago now and still looks bloody new! We got it from DFS. We are more than happy with it. Didnt get it in a new years sale though as they have one 365 days a year! :)

check on their damages and returns policy as if it gets delivered damaged they will only do a repair not a replacement as i found out ended up taking it to court with dfs a few years ago. WOULDNT TOUCH THEM WITH A HOOKERS SOFT BITS lol

cheers guys its good to hear peoples experiences.

Jim, pop into Park furnishers! a little more expensive but excellent service and products:winkiss:

we got ours from harveys they cost around the 1500 quid mark and their lovely a year and a half on they still look and feel like new and their service was great, highly recommended by me

after reading the title i thought jimmer was trying to fit sofas in his zed as a new comfort upgrade...

Sister got a sofa from DFS, all she had was trouble with the cushions collapsing, shes not even big either, 4 replacements later they finally got around to taking out the old filling and getting some foam ones made up that didn't lose shape, she then got a discount for the trouble caused, so pick your sofa wisely - she paid just over £1500 for it

We got a leather 3 piece from DFS 7 years ago and it has been spot on.

It has kept its shape and shows no sign of wear, (2 Kids and a Dalmatian on it) it was delivered on time and the delivery men had to take 2 doors off to get it in a they refitted them with no complaints what so ever.

My next one will be coming from there I can tell you

I bought a leather suite made my HTC and had a slight problem with it. They sent round an upholsterer to look at it who said it was perfectly normal and went on about DFS and all those other places that you get a lot of sofa for not so much money, he said they were utter crap and most of his call outs were for those companies. He said he would never recommend them to anyone. My sofa cost a bit more but after 5/6 years of use and a German Shepherd on it, still looks brand new.

HTC ended up swapping my sofa to keep me happy too :)

Purchased our Leather 3 piece Suite from DFS about 10 years ago for just under £2k. Been very happy with the quality.

Only downside was having to wait 10 weeks from order for them to arrive. I believe most Suites are made to order from places like DFS.

Yeah mine was about that price also

I guess if you get one for £500 you cant expect it to last very long :blushing:

I use to work for land of leather and dfs delivering sofas, Dfs seemed to have the same sofas but twice the price,

land of leather had a problem with peoples skin getting burns from the leather and was ment to be the moisture bags some split and covered the sofa in a dust,

they seemed to go bust quickly after that.

When i worked their most of the problems seemed they used leather match on anything you didnt sit on and stitching use to split,

I bought a cheap one 650 which was ok, it was a 3 and 2 recliner lasted about 4years before it split on stitching. and if it was me i would by:

a manual recliner set, the frames are metal so hard to break,

4bolts takes each seat off seperate so no worrys about where they fit.

make sure its got nice feeling leather not like plastic.

only pay about 650, and if it only last 3 to 4 yrs buy another, and for the 1500 you was gonna spend could nearly buy 3sets so would last ten yrs that way. and update it every few yrs.

And land of leather use to do an insurance, most didnt take but in my opinion were silly cause it covered a lot, 3yrs after they bought it and obviously by accident they put an hot plate on it and we was lumbered delivering a new one. but if the model was not available they got to pick for the original price.

Goodluck with sofa.

Ikea? ....Had my Corner suite 10/11 years now (8ftx8ft) and cushions washed on a regular basis (more so of late with the newborn!) and it's still good...Main covers can be removed and cleaned by dry cleaners every few months for £15..Paid about £750 back in 2002/3 but they have similar styles in 2/3 seater and chairs i think...If you're doing work it might be an interim option for you and you can use in another room afterward or sell it on second hand...Main feature is washability (for resale?) and lack of fading!
