would depend on how it broke, if the engine was running when it happened, you could be looking at new valves if they hit the pistons and bent. bit of a gamble but i suppose its how much your getting it for as to if its worth it or not, i do have some 2 sets of heads if the valves are bent, but you would have to check for any damage to the pistons as well.

thanks vodkashots, just what i was thinking, this is the reply i got when i asked how it broke.

i was breaking at the time before a road bump and the car just switched off i tried turning the key but it wouldn't start, i called up AA and was told by them that it was the timing belt after their driver had a look at the engine area, i done some research on the internet and have got to know that mine is not a integrated system so there shouldn't be no internal damage.

i have googled this subject and 99% of the answers i got say it has damaged the valve's

The zed, has an interference engine, which means when the belt snaps there is the likelihood of the valves hitting the pistons.

you say that but depemdant on how cheap m sure theres some non turbo blocks hanging about could be a cheap project depends on how mechanically inclinded you are.

I've got a running NA engine for £250 if you that helps you decide?

This is of course assuming the AA were correct in their assumption given how much the belt area is covered.

A sudden break in connection to the PTU can result in a low bang and failure to start thereafter.

Maybe worth at least going to view the car if not too far away?

Wot he said! ^^^^^

In my experiance the AA aren't the sharpest knives in the drawer!

typically all they would do is look in through the oil cap and ask you to turn over the engine.

if the belt has snapped you wont see anything moving
