I'd like your views on this if I could please.

Stemming from a recent conversation I've been racking my brain for inspiration for a wide'ish body conversion for the shortie' but I'm really not a fan of 99% of what's currently available (ie. Strosek/copy of Strosek/copy of a copied Strosek etc).

I spent most of '07 through until '10 looking and didn't really find anything that I truly liked

Mission in Japan do a nice kit as do Final Konnexion, but they don't cater for the SWB.

Now I loved the look of my FD (in sig pic) despite all the heartache that came with it, so was thinking about the possibility of paying for a custom one off wide'ish (about 20mm - 25mm tops) kit for my SWB using the FD kit as inspiration.

The FD kit is made up of Final Konnexion, Uras and Border racing 'bits' and I think that it works well, however appreciating that the zed and the RX are very different looking cars, do you think that the styling would work?

in particular I want side skirts that sit parallel to the floor without the usual 'arch'...

Cost (within reason) isn't really an issue in this case

your thoughts please

There was a thread about this the other day. Users were undecided whether the clean line of the Zed was best over the wide arch kit. I personally find the kits too agressive looking. What I would like to see is a kit or modification that starts alot further forward and gradually widens. Maybe starting at the door and only adding 30mm each side. Hell of a job though, and wouldn't want it in fibreglass, it would have to be a de-skin and weld job.

I really don't like a lot of the kits for the zed, and it would be nice to design a kit that compliments the stock lines of the zed rather than just give it a fat arse!

I was thinking carbon fibre and subtle

The thing is, Marty has got some fantastic ideas and he'll no doubt create an outstanding zed from them but I want to create something very different.

As hard as it may be to comprehend, I've spend £68k + £22k on two cars and have next to fook' all to show for it due to my nievity

I'd like to create my vision of a perfect zed and use that vision to build upon

Things have been pretty shite for me recently and they are now looking up thanks to very wealthy friends who have thrown me and my company a lifeline

this is my creation and I'm thankful for the opertunity to create it

Mission have got some fantastic kit bud, but next to fook' all for the shortie' that I can see!

Got confirmation of payment for a new contract bud, what I earned in a year with my old lot I've earned in 3 weeks, some good news for my company with regards to overseas sales, so it's working but....I just want to sort this shortie out now mate

ready for crimbo' now?

Yep all ready just done the front brakes on the truck and off to MOT friday. Spotted some bigger wheels down oxford too that should turn it into a monster truck.

Im a step ahead of you on the wide arch front put the word out to a few companies now and the Jap company i asked about the Abflug kit have now changed their ad to say 2+2 only! Idiots man might just get it and chop it up to fit.

It's fookin' rediculous bud.....no fooker' does a kit for the SWB!!!

Everywhere you look it's bone as fook' Strosek or copy Strosek.....boring as *****cks!

I've just bought CAD for the company and was even contemplating designing my own kit (if you're interested)

For the cost of a single video/data/Pwr connector we could fund a complete re-design of a kit!!!

give me a bell in the morning bud....

Cheers for the input bud :thumbup1:

Im not a fan of a wide arch 300, but as Osty said, it has to be from the door, long and subtle. Loving ur sig pic Jap, 2 ways to go for a wide rear end on a 300, just like ur RX, or as Osty said.........

Alz.

i think the biggest issue with the wide body kit is how it makes the ass look strange in relation to the rest of the car, it interupts the flow of the body, the only wide arch kit ive seen that looks stunning on the 300zx, is the Abflug BEETs wide arch kit, that actually widens the intier car from the front arches back.

Have to agree, this would be my choice if money was no object :punk:

Its the came as yours but with a stillen front and a crummy fake rear diffuser.

thats lovely apart from the wing the frony bumper and the rear diffuser is all wrong imo. but i love those little vents on the sides of the rear bumper!

my oppinion you have to be a bit creative with a wide arch zed because its far easier to get it totally wrong than get it balanced and right,,,i think you have to do the front arches to balance the car and lines ,,but then your having to modify every part so you can everything to flow and fit , its not cheap and not a quick job then you have all the hassle of getting wheels to fit and matching tyres etc ,, thats if you dont use spacers,,

custom made wheels custom made kit custom made car that is the way to go and today i had an enlightening moment on this subject.

the only problem with custom bits is that it is soooo hard to get them to look right.

Ive made plenty fo custom bits for the zed and ditched them all
