I'm not stopping at just spraying the inner dial surround :D

These will get the full treatment - silver and gunmetal grey with a ridiculous amount of lacquer and smooth strokeable finish ;p

.... yes, it's going to take a while lol ::rolleyes1:

The OCD bit. Because It is NOT an automatic and the rear wiper CAN'T go on because of the spoiler that's going on the car, I really hate seeing functional switches and displays that are not used so I have to 'delete' those too :)

Where the cruise control switch was, there is a nice bright 8mm wide beam blue LED behind it so I'd appreciate ideas on lighting that up eg with a 'NISSAN' logo. The switches are actually clear plastic when you rub them down :) Vinyll Nissan sticker / spray over/remove at the end?... sounds tricky. Cut out a hole, get some diffuser paper/and vinyl?

First fun... completely dismantled pods :)

Bit of fibreglassing.... I'm now onto a bit of body filler and more sanding.

Unfortunately the sexy little Apexi turbo timer I took a chance on ordering off Ebay that I was going to build in just doesnt work so I'm going ahead without it. :) We got half the price back off the supplier because they REALLY dont want the bad feedback, fingers crossed we can get it to work. I hope so, because even though I have to fix the 'brand new' cosmetic damage, because the digits light up in blue.

Nah, it's just the contrast between the colours, won't look anywhere near as obvious when its all the same colour, looks ace

Agreed. If the finished colour is black or similar to original it won't be nearly as obvious. It looks fantastic.

I am disappointed picture putterupperer, I log on in an evening and there is no update on this thread, very unhappy and I am sure I speak for many others :gun_bandana:

Wow - tidy job there Rose! It's coming on nicely....

+1 That's looking really cool :punk:

:) Thanks

De-paint dusted the house and drilled a hole for the alarm indicator. The first bit of gunmetal paint has just gone on all the inside and upside down edges. Cant go back near it until after 6 for the next paint dump. Going to be a long night :D

argh!.... cant finish the colour tonight - last 10ml left in the can and I won't paint with that. The last dregs out of the can always end up spitballing lumps so am not risking it until I have a new tin. :( Dont know what to do with myself now lol.

Update time!:)

This is all in 7 parts so took a bit of time to get it all painted evenly. The end result is a dual tone silver and gunmetal. It's going to take all week to get all the lacquer I want on it and smooth it to a mirror finish.

All in Grey:

It always starts looking a bit different once the lacquer goes on so thought I'd pop another pic up before the amazing 5.5 hours sleep I'm going to get if am lucky lol.

I havnt started smoothing it yet but it's definitely getting closer :)

I think this is well sexy I cant wait to see the finished job fitted into the car not to menstion seeing it in the flesh Top job

well done awesome stuff!!!!!!!!!! can you make one for me??????

I used to do things like this for people but there isnt any money in it and I barely have the time to do my own car at the moment :(

... but every minute spare (which isnt a lot) Ive been sanding and polishing. So far 5 out of the 7 bits are shined - gone through 1500 and 2000 grade wet n dry, t-cut and meggies techwax.

Alex still hasnt ordered the new steering wheel and a trip to maplins for diodes is still in order. So far done the 2 pieces of steering surround, both pod fronts and one pod/gauge holder... leaving just the large main surround and the other main pod part to do. Is as fast as time allows guys :)

Trying to show you a bit of shiny finish here but the lighting is abso rubbish in this house.

i think the work you're doing is spot on .seen it in the flesh and can't help but be impressed and slightly jelous! but as i was just looking at the last pic i thought... shame the buttons and controls are what they are. have you wondered yourself about anything you could do with them? cos the work you've done is spectacular but ever so slightly gets let down by the dreary z buttons .

If you wanted to go down that route see if Chris Bower can sort you out with something, he's just started doing all the vinyl and and exterior decals/logos etc

Looks ace, good work dude

Out of experience, areas I don't paint are buttons that get used a lot, and door handles/pockets. They tend to wear quicker where I'd rather stay on the side of safety with something that will stand up to the test of time. :)

I may have some graphics on the interior made but not over the buttons. They have little lights and the text/icons illuminate in blue :) Vinyll will be the very last stage of the whole car and that's a long time off yet :)

next full piccy will be when I have it all shiny and all the accessories put back in :)

Yaye, finished sanding and polishing it. Got it all back together so just down to a load of wiring now :D

I had to put a bit of rattle proofing inbetween the pods and the surround to stop any chance of the pieces rubbing.
