Insurance is really a luck of the draw casino these days lol. Try Dave at Footman James, he is a member on here and will look at the best price for you. I know it all depends on certain factors, but looking at various threads regarding insurance quotes its definitely worth looking at the non advertised mainstream insurers.

Thanks for the plug :)

Black-Zed - If you PM me a contact number I can get someone to give you a call and go through a quote for you. We do offer club rates and, on a classic policy, you don't get penalised for it being an import. Otherwise feel free to give the office a call on 0121 561 6250. Don't forget to mention you're a member of the club

other thing I've noticed, compare the market.com for me have always been anywhere from 400 to 1000 price difference in insurance higher, if im doing a multi quote website, i always use go compare, they always quote me lower quotes and strangely enough, they get quotes from the same companies.

hi dave if only i looked before have done insurance with lloyds but am sure i can cancel that if need be am back at work tomorrow but will try and call at some point in next couple of days, did try heritage insurance and when i said what car it is he said we dont cover the fairlady lol, as i siad to admiral lady £543 for what i needed to do a side window claim but because the car was a import and over 3 years they would not pay for a new glass, same as if i have a accident they will only repair the vehicle if they can source original parts.

thats why im with lynbrook, option to buy back, OR repair my own car and they will pay me half the labour to fix it my self as long as i supply 2 quotes for them to work out the average, and pay up to £500 for parts. also when the engine blew on my first silver zed, they not only supplied a courtesy car (that i didnt need as i had my other car with us lol) but also stuck me fooked motor on a flatbed and dropped it off at my house, a good 566 miles away from where i broke down, and didnt get charged a penny.

Did you try separate quotes?

That's always the issue with going to a non-classic specialist. I'd always go with an insurer that understands the marque, that way if ever you need to make a claim the whole experience will be much easier. If you've gone with the £337 price it doesn't sound too unreasonable depending on your circumstances.

yes as single quotes was £146 cheaper but they said z was wrong car listed (even though guy read out it's quoted as a import) at £360 was going to buy it then he realised higher quote on multi car then said it was £543 not £360 hence why i went to lloyds all cover was same legal cover etc just £100 higher excess

That's a strange thing for Heritage to say, I am insured with them for my JDM Fairlady 300ZX. £194.00 this year.

well i don't know i asked the guy if they covered my car first of all and he asked what it was so i told him nissan 300zx he checked came back to me and said yes we cover that but someone just shouted to me we don't cover 300zx fairladys so unless this is a new thing they have recently started doing maybe

Car insurance has risen by nearly 42% this year, hence why you get daft quotes!

I pay £226 with heritage (for the zed) and insure my other cars (daily drives) with different insurance companies.

If people would stop making false claims and insurance companies would stop giving 3rd party claims people our details we'd see a lot less of these insurance threads!

I just called up AA insurance here to get a quote last night, they confirmed vehicle then asked my age.. (24) ...

sorry sir we cannot insure you under 25 in that car.....

uhhh why not?

its classed as a high performance high risk vehicle...

Its a non turbo one.

Its still high performance.

No it's not i purposely bought a non turbo one so i could insure it being under 25 years old, its not even a 200 horspower at the wheels car and weighs as much as moby dick.

Please ease your tone sir

CLUNK

Ive got a multicar policy with admiral, 300 is £620 (twin turbo) and the toyota iq (998cc) is £430 lol

When i first got the iq it was £250, doubled last year to £500, now £430 cant get any of them cheaper anywhere.

Apparently its because of all the uninsured drivers. Are they all crashing into ferraris?

The Zed is still classed as a sports tourer on insurance systems, this is down to how the ABI rate the car. My insurance company would decline people that we deem a high risk too. But in all fairness, whats the point in wasting 20-30 minutes of your time and then giving you a stupid price because we feel it is a high risk to the business.

All i want is 3rd party to cover fire and theft and the damages on somebody elses vehicle.

Rather than be paying off the ferrari i hit... ill fix my own car. i actually refuse to get full insrance for the fact they will write my car off for some minor damage, and i've put far too much work in to let them take it.

i've asked for 3rd party quotes before now and they have been £30 less than paying for fully comp

Same here, I'm with Heritage!

Hope they haven't started shunning the F/lady.........

I would advise everybody to get a qoute from Footman James. I couldn't get my breath when i got my first quote. Insured my first zed with them, even tho it wasn't on the road +and never did get on the road as i broke it). Transfered it to my next zed (£20 admin i think). Better than Sky and adrian flux.

Both my M3's are with Footman James. ( both currently off the road too!)

Just to shock a little more, some times you'll get quotes on 3rd party that are more expensive than comp. It's rare it happens these days though

As it happens I was thinking about putting the z31 back on the road and got insurance quotes yesterday and of the cheapest quotes, it was £200 more for third party. Its happened to me in the past with ther cars but usually £20-30 of difference, never as big as £200

We wouldn't cover on a Zed you as you're under 25 too. On the plus side there's not a huge difference in the cost for an NA or a TT so maybe you could get yourself a TT next year? :)

Insurance is all based on statistics and, as Bird, rightly says, the age group you fall into is statistically the highest risk in any car

With classic policies the difference between FC and TPF&T is also minimal.

There are not as many underwriters that offer TPF&T cover these days so the competition between companies tends to be on FC policies which drives the prices down.

I tried footman james today and they wouldnt even cover for the alloys and bodykit. Said they would only insure the car if it was standard.

so my search continues. Adrian flux wanted £960 to insure it.

Ive got 6yrs ncb. Seems abit high to me.

They happily previously insured a toyota corona with a caldina gen 4 3sgte motor running 340WHP... no problems whatsoever and i was 21

My Zx was twin turbo but i've got an n/a motor in it as here generally as long as it is non turbo they don't care, but anything turbo you have to be over 25 to not pay through the nose, they simply wouldn't touch the Zx at all, i just dont understand how it can be classed as a high performance vehicle, it has less than 200 whp... its not exactly a rocket ship.

TPF&T is now usually more expensive than Comprehensive, I know one insurance company who won't even return a TPF&T quote on the comparison sites, they just return you a fully comp one instead, because they know their fully comp price, will be cheaper than almost any TPF&T out there. I used to work for them :( Insurance is a rotten industry and that's why I got out of it. I couldn't stand to work in it anymore. I've been having my own shenanigans recently with insurance companies, Admiral, don't even talk to me about Admiral, the Z is insured with them until the policy ends, then NEVER again!

Dave. I don't understand that. What value did you put on the alloys and bodykit? Can you PM me with your surname and postcode and i'll have a look and see if we can do something for you. If you want to include a mobile number i'll text you when i've had a look at it
