It's actually a Z1 clutch and flywheel combo... My bad

Hi all,

I need some help. Below is in RPS street max clutch. As you can see it's bust. I want to know what it needs to be back to normal. The disk is an abvious one and has no material left but does the rest of it look fine?

by the looks of that, you just need to clean the clutch housing and fly wheel, and replace the clutch plate.

I have an rps segmented flywheel in the car. I'm I right in thinking pictures 2 and 3 are of a flywheel??? If si then I don't even know why it's there unless it's something that came with the clutch.

I have some act clutch just lying around too lol

Picture 1. is the clutch housing

Pictures 2 and 3. are flywheel

all the others are the clutch disk that wares and causes all that lovely clutch dust.

Just to give a little background on this. The clutch was pretty much new and failed very early which seemed to be down to a couple of lips on the sedmented flywheel... Don't know where these came from.

Jeff then swapped the clutch out as it was bust etc.

check the flywheel face for anything thats going to cause excess ware, its essentially like a big brake pad and brake disk, so anything on the flywheel pressure surface that could impact the life of the clutch friction disk, is going to shorten its life.

the disk might not be holding up to the amount of power your putting through it. what BHP are you running?

might also be an idea to check the fingers on the clutch housing as these press against the clutch to engage it

I'm not sure of the actual bhp, it was around 450 but wasn't running right and misfiring all over. It was still having problems on boost when mapping it so we turned the power right down.

From what I'm lead to believe though the street max could hold fairly decent power. Not sire if that's right or not

well then, based from your original question, if the contact surface is fine with nothing thats going to accelerate the wear on the friction disk, id say replace the friction disk and you should be all good matey.

I was also considering a southbend clutch but all the technical stuff just confuses me tbh

I also bought a rebuild kit for the flywheel... Basically got new segments

I think your first port of call would be getting the engine running fine and sorting the map out for its final running set up. once thats done get a clutch thats going to handle the power your going to be putting through it :)

I would but I need a clutch to drive it and as the engine is out I want to change it now. I currently have a puck clutch but hate it.

I'll try and get a new friction plate. Anyone know where I can get one of them?

Unless RPS has changed their colour schemes and designs, neither of the above is RPS...

yeah he realised lol :)

Be worth Bird editing the wording sometime then to avoid incorrect info during future searches and to avoid confusion :winkiss:

The most important bit "Below is in RPS street max clutch" you can though mate.

The Max street and matching fly is a very good combo, used it meself for many years before moving up to the RPS carbon carbon twin kit.
