Hi there Guys,

Big dilemma going on for me, I cannot decide to have either 18 or 19 inch wheels,,, Has anyone got any photos for me to have a look at? My main problem is that in general i like bigger wheels, Always have, But in this 1 very rare occasion i cant decide if 19" looks a little big on this car.....

What does everyone think???? Cheeers :taz:

Personally i think 19's are a bit overkill on the zx. and you will have to run really low profile tyres to fit them, in the rear to fit in the arches, in the front also arch fitment but you have to also clear the camber arm linkage upright.

Here's my project which is running 18x10 rear and 17x8 front.

One more to give you a better idea of 18 inch wheel arch filling, this is running 265/35 on an 18x10

Yeah 18 looks pretty sweet on that 1, Ive had 19's on it so i know clearence isnt a problem, Like you say tho, Think it may just be to big, Looks pretty cool tho bud, I just added pics of mine on 18's its under title "pictures of the old gal" have a look mate, Cheers

nope! :tongue_smilie:

Fella i got my bodykit off seconds hand has his on 20 inch dtm's a bit similar to yours... but it is tucking rim on the front damn near on the ground on coilovers.

Looked insane, but he said it wasn't exactly practical to drive.

Yeah maybe a bit big, But in saying that i do like Big Wheels... MMMM still cant decide....

Mine was on 19's and I think it looked fab! Certainly didn't affect the handling or ride quality adversely and got a lot of positive feedback from passers-by and other forum members at the time as well. Really wasn't too big in relation to the car (see attached pics.) Please note, in the pics the car wasn't lowered yet.

Car has since been sold but the rims are still up for sale:

Kahn RS-C 2 piece, deep-dish (235 front / 265 rear)

If anyone is interested please drop me a PM.

All the best,

Dan

not really sure what you are trying to say LOL!?!

I have no rubbing or clearance issues at all!

To be honest when I was looking I was unsure whether to go 18 or 19" - glad I went 19" now.

I love them, everyone that has seen it has said they look great & have had no issues so all in all I dont really care at all what others think!!

Oh don't get me wrong they look good, i just think 18's flow better with the car, and the 19's are a bit over powering unless the car is seriously low.

ie tucking tread front and rear.

I have just ordered a set of 18" after much deliberation on here and they should be with me tomorrow:hyper: but 19" look great to its all up to personal tast mate.

Yeap, it's personal preference on look, i'm all for people having whatever they want on thier cars as long as they like it.

IMO, Long wheel bases easy get away with 19", imo 19s look a little big on a swb

19s on my silver and 18s on my black one

yeah.... agreed.... from what I can see you get a slightly softer ride off 18's and from what I've found the tyres are cheaper and easier to find...

OMG that is one sweeeeeeet vert. :surrender:

I do actually agree with that definately not 19's on a swb.

Found a side on pic of my car, 17's front 18's rear. had to take my coilovers up a touch to get her up the ramps.

i do have to agree that 19s arent that useable as said tyre profiles have to be way down to try and keep the speedo correct. which is both uncomfortable to the ass and the wallet. also bad for traction off the line if im correct :D and tbh an inch is sod all looks wise. ive got 16s on the front atm and 18s on the rear, doesnt actually even look that.................... different.

Also a better selection of tyre specs.

Hell my new tyres i've got here are 285/40/18 toyo t1r's for the rear, in a Y (180mph) speed rating, would hate to think what they would cost in a 19!!!

The rule of thumb for ideal wheel size is that the wheel diameter should be close to a third of the height of the car and four times the width apart.

That should translate into..

LWB

20" - Too large

19" - Acceptible

18" - Ideal

17" - Acceptible

16" - Too small

SWB

20" - Too Large

19" - Too Large

18" - Acceptible

17" - Ideal

16" - Acceptible

LWB works best visually with matched F&R of 18"

SWB works best visually with matched F&R of 17" (mainly because of the spacing)

Throw ride height adjustments and heroic offsets into the mix and then things start to change.
