Sure you some of your MOT guys have already seen these but we saw the new MOT certificate last week and was very surprised by the low tech look of them, in fact not just low tech but low security also, no actual official water marked paper just normal pc paper and printed using a small ministry programme....!

I saw my first last week, I could knock one of them up in 10 minutes!

Exactly!

If I seen that or was given it from my MOT guy I would have said its fake !

Yes!

Jeff

It does have to be on 80gsm minimum paper though :D

I hate handing them over to the customer though, they keep asking wheres the certificate lol. It is nice that the advisories can't be ripped off though, salesmen across the country will be very saddened.

WTF! I'm completely shocked, that looks so fake and crap, what utter idiots! They are encountering people to counterfit by making them so easy to copy!

The whole point is the MOT is completely computerised now (and has been obviously for some time)! No one really "needs" a paper copy any more - its just really proof to the owner that it has been done!

All records are now checked online to see if any vehicle has a current MOT :)

OMG thats terrible, bring back the old A5 colourful ones from 10 years ago!

If they are all held on computer (I know they have been for years) why can't the general public access them to find out if a car they are thinking of buying has a current MOT and now, what advisories there were at the last MOT ?

Given the complexity of a ZX TT having the advisories on the MOT could prove very useful !

Probably some privacy law prevents that :D

You can, however you do need the test number from the certificate (receipt!) as well as the reg: http://motinfo.direct.gov.uk/internet/jsp/ECSID-Internet-Status-Request.jsp

Thought its more important that its on the data base

thats the part that can not be forged but i suppose its not good

for Resale

if car has tax and New Fake MOT would leave ppl out of pocket

with Court /fines/points/ and unsafe cars ..

LOL... yeah, I also saw one of these last week....

austerity strikes again!!!... I don't care too much either way.. the only point that I could see as a issue was due to it being so easy to forge, a lot more people could do it and that then puts the onus on the person buying the car to ensure it is MOT'd.... and not everyone is computer literate or has access...

and so when are the log books / tax renewals going down the same track?

LOL... yeah, I also saw one of these last week....

They'll be going that way when there is a nationally implemented ANPR system in action..... with car zappers on every camera !

LOL! there were LOTS more fake MOT's before computerisation and there was no way of knowing!!

The new Mot paper work is to say the least embarrasing when passing it to customers! We seem to apologise?? I`ve started to use a green and red pen when signing just so we can distinguish between them in the office!

Is there any difference between a pass, fail and advisory sheet? i.e the old ones are different colours?

only that it says certificate or refusal at the top LOL!

all printed on plain paper now.

Advisory's are now on the same sheet

have heard its a special mouse supplied by the ministry at £55 each u cant use ur own also that tests could become b-anuall instead of yearly

we have had them a few weeks and think there s***. I mean how many of us actually check the paper work we are actually given when buying a car. There will be lots of cars with couple months tax and 12 months MOT on the side of the road for sale. come to tax it in a couple of months and oh look no MOT! i can see this happening more now
