Hi,

I'm trying to confirm a part number and the parts catalog I've found isn't helping much.

Due to brittle and leaking fuel pipes I've almost replaced all of them on the car now but one in particular is leaking a little but its the one at the front of the engine between the 2 fuel rails and I can't get to it without removing the throttle assemblies. What I mean by that is there are the 2 butterflies on the front of the plenum which are connected to each other and to the throttle and Cruise cables.

I think this is right one. Anyone confirm?

That's the right gaskets you need but you might be better to remove the plenum to get access. As your finding out that is the worst fuel pipe to replace due to the problems getting to it.

If you mean a piece of fuel pipe about 2.5ins long at the front and can be seen under the throttle cover, it is do able albeit with some effort.

Long nose pliers and a screw driver will be of great use and certainly save removing the throttle bodies and linkage tbh.

That's a better idea than mine :thumbup1:

That's the one.

Being tight I'd looked at that idea and didn't fancy my chances. Don't really want the car laid up if I completely nacker the hose and then have to wait for the gaskets because I can't get it off.

I'll order them and try without, then if it needs to come off no problem, if not, sure I'll need them at some point so they'll stay on the shelf.

Cheers

Don't worry mate loads have done it before, obviously you can rip the old one and yank it off.

You can heat the new fuel pipe up in some hot water, slide the hose clips on, push one end of the hose on and with the pliers and screwdriver stop the clip from turning as you tighten it, pull up the hose in the middle with pliers or lever up with summit in oredr to other end of hose on then with screwdriver push over the clip towards it's end and do same again to tighten it.

If you can get the old one off, you can get the new one on!

Think Jeff needs to do one of his "How to's" on this

Good luck

I'll give it a bash. I'll even do a write up, done a few before on other things.

Thought I'd sorted it. One of the hose clamps was a bit loose but I'm still getting the odd whiff of fuel when its warming up so I think its time to do a proper job.

Thanks for the tips.
