Hi Guys

Probably a question for Groover (Graham) - Mr. all things electrical :-)

Thought I would replace my drivers window switch as the markings had rubbed off.

Mine is a Jap Spec '91 and the new switch is from a UK '92.

The Jap switch has 3 & 4 pin connector. The UK switch has 3 & 6 pin connector. (see photos)

The UK has what looks like an extra bulb & connector. Was the UK spec switch illuminated hence the extra 2 pins?

Both switches work ok but neither lights up at the moment.

Cheers

Martin

At a guess this is a Series I / II difference not a UK / Jap. Do you know what month the '92 car was ? Series II started around August although some Series I parts were still being used later in the year.

yes was a series difference, although not sure whether all or some UK had the illuminated window switch. The 6 pin connector has the 2 additional feeds for the light which is at the bottom right as you look at the switch in situe, the switch will still work as youve found, but obviously wont illuminate without the extra wires.

You can add a ground to the outer pin and a live feed off the window amp to the inner one next to it. The light will be on all the time the ignition is on, but you wont really notice it until night time.

Thanks Andyp & Groover

Don't know when the donor '92 car was registered tho. I also have the '92 passenger switch but that doesn't have a bulb holder......strange.
