As I travelled back from slough down the back roads, a ferrari 360 came out of a juntion just infront of me. As he put his foot down i was expecting to wave good bye, but im pleased to say the zed kept up nicely....up to 25mph.

In all seriousness, as we then drove on to a private road, i was on his tail right up to a tonne. Very pleased :)

Then they took the Ferrari off the breakdown truck.....lol....:tt2:

lol just messing mate, well done, Zed all the way.

Ok not quite a Ferrari 360 (***EDIT!) but today en route to Newport just outside Pontypool, a Jag XF supercharged that had been following behind since Oakdale, pulled up alongside on the duel carriageway, the Jag obviously wasn't sure what it was that it had just pulled alongside so to test the water she tried to pull away hard.

Despite the shortie's clutch not being in the best of health the zed reeled it right back in with ease.

Humoured by the fact that her curiosity had resulted in a short sharp lesson in what a 15 year old Jap car can be capable of, she just smiled and acknowledged with headlights and a wave, which was nice.

She was a middle aged blonde, and what I would describe as looking like a footballers wife type (no doubt headed straight home to demand that her 'hubby' buy her the next model up)

The power to weight difference between the Jag and the shortie' I believe definately played a big part in this encounter.

I don't know if the Jag XF supercharged has a paddle shift or manual and whether dodgy gear changes caught her out, but regardless, the zed took it.

Top end...who knows, I'm guessing the Jag would take it if the shortie's still currently limited to 155'ish (?)

*All of the above was obviously conducted on a clear stretch of duel carriageway with no other cars present and well below the national speed limit :innocent:

***EDIT: Just checked stats and the Jag XF sc is an absolute beast compared to the Ferarri 360. the Ferarri boasts a not insignificant 400 bhp from its 3.6 ltr V8! However the Jag Puts down 464 bhp and 424 ib ft of torque from a 5 ltr V8......and 'it' got trounced by what at first glance appears to be a mildly modded 3ltr TT (partially stripped/Blitz intake/straight through de-cat/upgraded downpipes and some other 'bits')???

So on that note, huge thanks go to Marty (Gonzo12c) you were spot on mate, there's something very special about this particular TT shortie' and I fully intend to get to the bottom of it.

.........and by private road you mean Major "A" road or motorway

Yeah, privately owned by the government......

Whipped a BMW Z4M the other day , i had to slow down for him to catch to let him see what had beat him  lol

I've been in a (modified) Z and completely embarrassed a 360 before. The Driver gave a thumbs up after.

Cant beat the sound of the Ferrari in comparison though.

a 20year old datsun

i had a go with a Evo 9 RA one that supposed to have around 450ish bhp he was just keeping up till about 120 and kinda left him from there

and i wasnt running full boost too

Well plz'd

I have glued myself to the back of a ferrari out in the country lanes, dont ask me what one it was but it looked new and expensive and sounded awsome when he gunned it, i played with him upto the limit of his driving ability, alot of the people who can afford the very fastest of cars sadly dont have the ability to apreciate them and after him putting a rear wheel on the grass verge i was a gentleman and backed off and let him go. I think the mrs recorded it on her mobile somewhere.

That said i was given a run for my money by a lunatic with a shitty little C reg polo with a corrado G60 engine in it.

I once raced a Volvo T5 in my zed.

When i realized it was the police, i was a far bit ahead so decided to keep going (I was on the motorway gone midnight).

I got off at the next junction and never heard anything since.

Shat myself for a few days thinking he'd have got my reg, expected a knock on the door, but it never came.

not quite in the same catagory as a ferrari but left a 330 beemer at the lights and he even had a rolling start! lol althogh i did then have my ass handed to me by my mechanics 500hp evo 9 lol

You really can't make assumptions like that mate! For all you know she could have a degree in quantum mechanics - never judge a book by its cover!

On a different note, seeing as everyone is enjoying their 'hero' moment, I'd thought I'd embarrass myself and confess to my 'losses'.

Number 1: I was whupped by a Volvo 740 shortly after getting my engine rebuilt :pinch: It had some kind of body kit on it and a badge I can't remember on the boot (similar to Hartge or Alpina, that kinda thing), but we both booted it in third and the Volvo was pulling away. I gave up pretty quickly after that.

Number 2: I was 'served' just the other night on my way upto Scotland. After Edinburgh and the roadworks heading north on the M90, I decided it was safe to press-on a little. Noticed some Xenon bulbs half a mile back which had been keeping up for a couple of miles, so slowed down to let him past, and saw it was only an Audi A6 2.7tdi...

Getting back on it, Audi decided he was going to show me a thing or two - just as the road gets a little twisty before Perth. There was no way I could keep up on the long, constant radius turns. The road was a tiny bit greasy and I don't trust my rear tyres unless its bone dry, so the Audi and his quattro were long gone. I could reel him back in on the straights, but that's not the point really is it? If it couldn't beat a diesel in a straight line, I'd set fire to it there and then!

"Constant radius turn" - That reminds me. I was passenger in a stock Z a couple of years back, running in Safety mode.

A Porsche Cayenne Turbo (the 4x4) decided it wanted to play down this dual carriage way bypass, both cars about equal on the straight (the z in safety mode), but when it came to a fairly long but tight constant radius turn on this dual carriage way....both cars side by side....the old Z stuck like glue while the porsche with its fancy 4wd, but massively overbearing weight figure, started to slide and almost completely lost it....it gave us a fright :scared:, and a satisfied smile :).
