had a close call today, took it really easy on a 10 mile drive back from cardiff earlier, but couldnt resist giving it a bit of welly on the final straight home. if only i had checked my mirror before i did!

blue lights followed me up the road, and i was pulled.

"wot the hell was that all about "he said, desperatly trying to hide the grin from my face from the rocket propulsion i had just had, i got out and appologised. a quick breath test later (all clear amazingly) and a *****cking and i was back on the road.

got caught doing 73 in a 60 zone a few months ago and am waiting to go on a speed awareness course (to avoid the 3 points).

so...................... how times have we been caught speeding?

Ive only ever had 3 points. 41 in a 30. The road has just changed from a 40 to a 30 and i missed the sign. (camera)

Been pulled doing some silly thing before and been let off!

Never had one but I've had plenty of close calls where you get that feeling something's not right and slow down just to see the traffic boys with the laser out.

I did pass a traffic cop with his laser thingy a few days ago when I was sure I was 10 over the limit but never got pulled for it, I'm guessing either it was my lucky day or a speeding violation is in the post for Monday.

I'll soon see.

Yeah, but as they don't yet have cars up by you, they would never catch you on their push bikes.....:tt2:

Not exactly stopped for speeding but I got stopped at 5am on the way to work in my 1st zed because " it was too nice a car to be out at that time" and I got stopped in my starion because the copper " had one once and hadn't seen one for ages!"

I've had 4 in 30 years of motorcycles and various cars, strange but true, never received a ticket while riding bikes even though one of my bikes was the fastest thing on the road at one point with a sub 2 second 0-60 (Suzuki GSX-R 1100), and believe me it was frightening.....lol all four were in cars.....And one was in an ambulace on the way to an emergency!!!

I got caught doing 41 in a 30 zone abut 10 years ago in my old Vectra SRi. I didnt even see the unmarked van as it was 5 in the morning and I was a bit late for work. Got a £60 fine and 3 points. Had a few close shaves over the years as you get to know where all the speed camera vans park nowadays.

Always on the bridge near Pencoed on the M4 for all you Welsh guys! :)

got no speeding tickets but got my self 3 points / £60 fine for drifting around an island .

unmarked piggy seen me and recordered it

showed me my skills .. lol but wouldnt give me a copy :(

I've had a fair few, first sp30 in 2005 doing 34. Second October 2010 sp30 doing 36, managed to get away with a speed awareness course. Then another sp30 in April this year, and then i got clocked at 102mph on the A1m in July, turns out the copper was a really nice guy, only gave me 3 points and a fine instead of a ban, but he did then fine me another £60 for an illegal number plate. Thought my zed was a mitsubishi gto though, even wrote it down on the ticket till i corrected him. And I've still only got 6 points!!!!!!

Shouldn't have corrected him, you would have got away with it in court for the wrong information on the ticket.

the thought did cross my mind but he was requesting insurance details over the radio, so if i wouldn't of corrected him it would of came back uninsured i think, or the radio people would have corrected him.

Not a single 1 until i was 50 (5 years ago):wheelchair:.... now I've got enough points for a council flat...:taz:

LOL..Cheeky fecker :ban::lol::lol::lol:

I have (touching wood as we speak) a clean licence.....

....but I have only (so far) had 1 speeding ticket in my 23 years of driving. Back in 1993 my dad and I were en route to my cousin's wedding in Norwich. It was early on a Sunday morning and the M11 was empty so I wasn't haning around....

Anyway I spotted this plain white Vauxhall Senator (as some forces had in those days - a nice new 3.0 24v it turned out) parked up some way ahead on the hard shoulder, so thinking the obvious, I checked my speedo and slowed down to about 70-80mph and cruised past.

I was right to do so, as soon as I passed on came the blues and he pulled me over. He had a new-fangled (1993 remember) monitor device on board which showed me appearing on the scene at 118mph - and then braking as I obviously realized he was unmarked police........

......so he reported me for my "average" over that distance which was (phew) 99mph. I got the standard 3 points and a fine of £60 plus some costs - a total of under £100 IIRC (it was a long time ago!!). He could have done me for worse, no doubt, but he did make a promise - he agreed to tear up my ticket if he caught someone driving faster than me that day. Which was pretty unlikey really......

Richard:sweatdrop:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

All this talk of speeding tickets you should all be ashamed of your selves.

Got my only ever 3 points, when i was a retained firefighter, trying to get to the station for a call. 34 in a 30, by a local copper who said "where is the fire then sonny?" as i sat there in fire kit with a brigade bleeper going mental.

he said i should know better.

Then got into the police, and was as good as gold, but used to give out tickets by the dozen. I was a very Lenient copper. if you passed the attitude test, then no problems, if you failed it, then you will be getting a ticket.

After i left the force, all was good until i went to the sushi sunday, with this club and the other club. Some idiot thought it would be good to "go to tangmere airfield" where me, crotchrocket and nick bananazed had been playing before. After nearly 30 zeds started playing on a 3 miles disused runway, only for some old girl on a bike to take offence, for 3 traffic cars to turn up.

Everyone got a section 59 warning for messing about, but luckily for me the guy who was booking us up, was my old partner, took my details but didnt do anything about it. Said they were looking for a black one, a red one and a white one, Naturally is clearly wasnt us, as there had been a scooby there, which was black with red doors and a white spoiler.

Knowledge is power. Its not what you know but who you know.

thats fair and good but, they are getting slyer. my father was involved with the police and retired afew years back and has 6 points now... over the last sorta 10 years. the whole no excuses scheme going on in dorset is pretty tight. there is no attitude test. its black and white your speeding you get a ticket. one of my customers recently got done for 35 in a 30 thats 100m section out of a 40 road. at 11.30 at night on her way home from mass. shes about 65 0r so. they have also recently started hiding on the overpasses first thing you know about your 5-10mph speeding infringemnt on the dualy is the blue lights. fortunatly they are giving out lots of these driver awareness schemes with £100 fines. but its a bit heavy, its really being rammed home atm, with mobiles unmarked cars sat in laybys teams sat on overpasses. you get the picture.. its all abit heavy handed atm. imo of corse

Never caught speeding but have a CU80 for using a mobile phone.

Got caught at 93 on the motorway a couple of years ago. I'm pretty used to seeing cops in camera vans on motorway bridges and I know from driving the same route for the past few years exactly where they are.

On this occasion it was a motorcycle on a bridge with some weird contraption on a tripod. I'm pretty into bikes and I've been riding longer than driving. I could tell it was probably a Honda pan european from a good distance which should have prompted me to slow down. I saw it a long way off but I'd never seen a cop using that tactic before, I'd just assumed it was a motorcyclist taking a photo or something. By the time I saw the police livery on the bike it was too late.

Got pulled about 6 yrs ago by an unmarked corsa, was in my black mk4 supra at time, she cought me drifting a roundabout :( After a good telling off and me saying your far too stunning to be a copper she gave me a bo**ocking but accepted my appology for drifting on the condition I took her out for a ride ;) two weeks later we starting seeing each other :)

Ended things about a year later oh well what some of us will do to avoid a ticket lol

2003 i was done for 38mph in a 30mph limit in my mini when the swines had changed the speed limit after i'd moved away for a couple of years. They sat there in their van while i dropped down from 40mph to 38 just to be sure then saw the sign in my rear mirror.

Crafty gits knew it had changed as well! :headvswal
