Mikey, I'm getting a bit tired of you bitching about the over Moderation on this forum. you have a short memory fella, wasn't that long ago that the same Moderation practices were protecting YOU from your alleged dodgey hash of an engine re-build on CraigTT's Zed. I didn't hear you complaining about the threads and posts being edited and deleted that were discussing your engine building skills, and Craig demanding his money back etc. the same Committee and Mods fought your corner on many occasions. if you don't like this Club and forum for what ever reasons, then no one has a gun to your head in making you hang around. So do us all a favour and give it a rest. Last Warning! :angry:

Time you saw the bigger picture Dave, whats done is for the better of the fourm. A fourm which is the biggest and best 300zx fourm in the country. A fourm where even banned members come back to join in the banter and ask questions were they know they will get answers to. So I think Kim the committee and mods are doing alright. But we will always get people who will not agree with what we do and we do have to be thick skinned to listen to all the crap that is thrown at us but it is what it is and if you dont like it then leave.

Surely thats worth paying just so the guys that run the club can do the best job they can. The site doesnt run by itself.

 

Couple that with the amount of information/knowledge/parts/cars and other invaluable help; for me make it very reasonable.

To be honest, youve hit the problem there. I find the 'supreme being' / step fartherly tone to be what has got my back up previously on here.

 

The worst, is that Mikey told me about a PM he got, basically accusing either me or Alex logging in as him and posting. Now that is something I am finding extremely hard to forgive. This is partly why I have not been such an active forum member.

Paul, it's obvious that having been a member for many years you know precisely what benefits subscribing will bring so your question is (seemingly) one which you wish to provoke discussion. I've subscribed on and off (mostly on) for about 6 years. Yes, this forum has a particularly strong moderation but I personally haven't found this to be onerous. Right now I am a registered member. Having been a member for quite some time I can safely say that when the time come's I won't feel the need to ask other members' opinions about whether I should or should not re-join.

 

PS. I never got my window stickers or membership pack ever either lol. But then again that wasn't why I joined in the first place :)

Some of the orginal mods will tell yer i've had my fallouts here in the past over things, but man I know they have a job to do and they do it to the best of their ability, if it's not your cup of tea, move on....................

 

Remember they are here to stop many things and make a decision based on many aspects, what they know from history of the person (s) involved, the subject, previous similar threads, much of which a a member knows nothing off.

 

You know those cops with cameras programes and theres a bobby trying to do his job and some arse hole pops his head in and interferes and goes on about any old irrelevant crap and so is given a warning to leave, but he doesn't and pushes it until finally he's arrested and then says how bad the cops are for picking on him, well that happens here without a doubt.

 

BTW the half wit who started this thread having been around on and off for over 6 years and over 7,000 posts to his name knew exactly whats what with subscribing.

 

What's valid from all this is any complaints about lack of membership items cos that shouldn't be the case, but for moans about moderating to keep this place respectable just because you don't know why or agree with decisions, use your PM facility to those concerned rather than lowering the tone please :2guns:

What a great thread opinions on both sides. The forum however would not be full of help without the members especially the ones with great knowledge on zeds and look to help others. I have expressed my concerns a while ago via pm However surely the mods should set the example and maintain a non bias view. I like a few others have decided to take a break from the forum. As for my zed build I have decided just to unveil the finished product next year hopefully at jae however sadly will probably not be on the club stand and I will become another rogue zed in the crowd.

Got my membership card today in all it's tacky glory. Got window stickers at JAE but unsure whether to fit them. I think I'll design my own in black to go on the bodywork because I don't DO window stickers.

 

The keyrings are very sexy (even though the 'Z' is badly proportioned compared to the logo). I got the 'new' style one at JAE (which dangles from my rear bumper), but greatly appreciated the older more refined silver z keyring in the post today which is actually on my keys now :cool3:

I think I ate more than £15 worth of burgers at JAE this year so def worth it !

I really dont see what the problem is on this site. Why are a few of you so up the wall about the site?

 

Im fairly new to the site and find it very helpful and useful to me. I have saved hundards due to the FREE ADVISE i got from you guys so the £20 i paid to be a member is nothing (i spent more in the indian tonight lol).

 

It seems to me that there are things that have happened in the past and some members and mods seem to find it hard to let it be IMHO.

 

Maybe people that have been here for a while and have had zeds for a long time dont need the advise as you now know how to diagnose and fix your zed. Im guessing here but i would say that when you first bought your zed and logged on to this site you had no clue about PCV valves and saftey boost and all the other silly faults you get with your zed and only through advise from fellow members have you learnt how to fix your zed.

 

this is a great site for 300zx owners, fact. The advise you get here is well worth the £20/£15 a year you pay. Saying that i would like to see the club at more than 1 show a year. it would be nice for the club to attend more shows as it would be good for the club communty and nice to put some face's to the cars.

 

just my 2 pence worth.

Theres no doubt that the subs are worth having even if its just so people can sell parts or other items.

Maybe the problem that gappens on here is that because people dont get to meet up as a big meet regular enough throughout the calender year that things can be taken the wrong way as we dont get to know peopleS personality well enough.

And then theres a slight problem with not being able to mention your opinion without worry of being outcast.

Maybe there should be a section on the subscribed members only to be able to discuss any feelings without retrobution from the moderators(obviously as long as theres no name calling or threats made)

I've stayed out of this until now, and I'm going to try to continue to do so for the most part, except to say:

 

1. I agree with Yowser, people have been banned from here for much less, so why isn't Smithy now banned for insulting a member?

 

2. Yes this club is pretty great tbh, but it has it's faults, one of which being, that no one is allowed to point out or discuss those faults, without Smithy calling them a halfwit (or worse) and KIM threatening to ban them, aside from those two points and a couple of niggly bits, I love the place!

 

3. As for what Rose said about JAE, no that's not her opinion, those were facts, the burgers were economy burgers from Costco, Voddy told us that, I personally didn't mind them as much as others. The rolls were good quality warburtons and the cheese slices I think were dairylea? so again, good quality, hence her saying most of the £15 you ate were in the rolls and cheese :D Also, the fact we went to KFC was not an opinion either, we really did :lol:

This is a great club and a great place, and its a real shame that arguments like this seem to be happening more and more frequently. To the new members who have just joined (subbed or not), you'll find an almost unlimited amount of knowledge and support and most of the time, good craic. To the original poster, I guess PMs are a good benefit, as it means a lot of people could express their concerns OFF FORUM to a moderator and have it out that way, rather than the public, free for alls that seem to be occurring of late. I'm surprised at a lot of what's gone on, and, dare I say it, think there needs to be a female moderator (not suggesting me, I already have enough on my plate!) but I think there needs to be someone who can negotiate and communicate more effectively than, say, the flying feet tackle like Kim's response to Mikey above.....just my opinion though fellas!

And, quite frankly, given Kaza Steve's post this morning about his heart wrenching family situation, surely all this is absolutely bloody pointless compared to this?
