I just phoned up regarding an insurance quote on my '91 Fairlady ZX Twin Turbo Auto, and was staggered to hear the price.

Sex: Female

Age: 25

NCB: 2

Insurer: Footman James

Price: £239.40

Of course this is classic insurance, but it's fully comprehensive SDP&C with 3000 miles a year. Anyone got some recommendations of other companies at all?

Thanks

Footman James are the best I have been with them now 3 years

how did you get insurance with them with a modified zed? soon as i told them mine was modified they said they couldnt insure me?

That's the downside of owning a newer zed. Not been able to get classic insurance on mine cos it's a 98 and its now been chipped. Might try ringing round this year tho.

my insurance came down by £200 this year. paying £600 ish now. proper chuffed. still only tpft :(

Footman James basically laughed at me when i rang up. low crime area. 7yncb. clean lience no accidents. sorry computer says no. No one will insure me and it sucks and i have no idea why, So i have been stuck with flux for the last 6years

Im over 50 years old 5 years ncb live in london and had to pay £960. And that 5000 miles limited driving. This will be my last year having a Z as the cost is just to high. and thats with Adrian Flux. there first qoute was £1960

if you own a second vehicle get a quote with lynbrook and save your self some cash, more often than not flux give prices for us well over what other insurance company's do, im 33 live in a not so good post code area and still only pay 330 my insurance renewal has come in at 340 so gone up by £10

I paid £194 fully comp last year (Lynbrook) for a SWB TT manual, and got a quote last week from them for my '96 Toyota Granvia camper conversion only £203 fully comp, with all mods declared. Believe it or not Lynbrook offer a special camper type insurance aswell as classic insurance and the Granvia met the criteria.

lynbrook and footman both said no to me.

im 25

4 years ncb

second car

owned it for 3 years

its garaged in my garden

the hang up was the fact it was jap i believe

im currently paying £700 a year which looking at some of your prices is disgusting. im with flux atm because sky could no longer give me fiully comp with the ability to drive other cars but i wont need that fater next year anyways. think i need to have an even bigger look around when i renew.

Strange as all SWB are import?

yup im a little confused myself, one of them im sure that was the reasoning, and im sure one company i tried wanted me to be be 30

Footman James were really expensive just last week for my Dodge Ram. Yeah, yeah, its not a Zed but insurance is all the same on second, classic vehicle.

Graham Sykes were the best for me, very competitive !!

I've been making a list of insurance companies that give good deals from these sorts which i've copied below:

footman james/Graham Sykes/Sky insurance/heritage/swinton/Lynbrook/Houghtons/Broadsure (check 300zx site for club deal)/ http://www.sureterm.com/classic-car-insurance/

.MCE> try them

lol I'm 28 with no NCD but a clean licence and on standard road insurance (i.e. not classic, limited mileage or agreed value) I get around £700 before instalment costs like interest etc.

Who with? Im in the same situation but a bit older and my best quote was about £1200 from FJ.

Footman James, 25yo male, 1 fault accident, 0NCB, 3000 miles, £183.

Who with? Do you keep it in a locked, alarmed, guard patrolled garage or something?

I've updated the vehicle list at FJ so we can offer classic policies on all Z's regardless of age. Don't forget to mention you're a member of this club!

I would still be interested in putting a deal together for the club and becoming their affiliated insurer. If someone on the committee would like to drop me a pm we can discuss?

If no one contacts you speak to Groover he is the trading liason officer and keep us updated on what's happening if anything.

Quick question for you, when an insurance company takes into account the postcode of where the car is kept do they just use the first part e.g for me it's BA4 which will include the scummy town a few miles away where crime rates are higher or do you take into account the full postcode which means I get treated based on crime figures in my sleepy little hamlet where nothing happens?

just done an online quote with Footman James, 25 male 5yrs NCD £248.63. Not bad considering.
