Recently saw this in one of the Consult connector item descriptions on ebay.

'Nissan Consult connects to your PC via RS232 (serial port), USB to serial adaptors do not work and should not be used. Your laptop will require the correct port'

Can you post if you get it working.

We shall see. Cannot see why it wouldnt work?? you get the software with the adapter?

Got the same converter cable for my ebay conzult! But of an arse to install the software as on the disc it comes with about 10 different ones!!! One will work it tho... As for getting Conzult free edition to work that's a bit hit and miss... Work when it want's too... Can't get Datascan or any of the other free ones to work so a bit disapointed really...

Also most of the links to free Z software on the net are now dead so searching this forum for free software will only give you dead links....

Thinking of putting mine back on ebay as no matter how hard I try fiddling with Virtual com port settings and baud rates it very rarly wants to conncet... :-(

You're most likely experiencing data comms problems through the USB adapter. I can definitely confirm that the DTA ConZult software (both the free and full-fat versions) will only work 100% correctly with certain USB-Serial converters. It's to do with how the converter modulates bi-directional data flows, etc and most off-the-shelve / ebay converters will not handle this correctly. We used to supply the correct USB converter (and driver software) with our kit but I'm completely out of them since I closed the business down. I would require at least 10 confirmed orders before I can speak to my old supplier to see if they're able to send me some. Price wise I believe they were in the region of £15 per converter. Pricey, yes, but at least it's guaranteed to work with our ConZult software. I can't confirm that it'll work with every other type of diagnostic software/kit though.

That sounds great Dan! Would be up for one of those at this price!! Hope we can get enough of us together for a group buy!! Cheers!

mine was working fine but now won't connect at all.. I think it may be the connector in the car... I'm going to change it in hope that it's the cause.

I bought a cable off ebay for about £8 so fingers crossed it will do the trick. I didnt buy the one in the link. To cheap

I have got the full conzults so i hope it all works.

If not i will put my name down for a cable :)

will be interested to know if this works! I bought a decent RS232 to USB converter for about £20 and go no love from it at all :mad2:

Guys

To be honest the best is to have a old portable with com port on it.

Almost every1 has a old laptop somewhere that can be used to datalog; you can even consider using it all time in the car. Today with ssd hard drives we can use a pc on car without worry about the hdd goes bad and it will make a old pc seem a new one. :)

What i will do as soon as i have time (€€€€) is to buy a stereo with lcd screen and vga in so i can put a old laptop on the rear of car to have datalog all the time.

I have the same cheap one from ebay and never let me down.

I use on conzul,data scan,scan tech and more:thumbup:

And I had one from a computer shop for £12 and nothing:oops:

just make sure when you install the cable you know the com port number you are installing.(preference install on port 1,2,3or4)

because sometimes in some programs you can only choose up to port 4or5

and don't forget to check on your computer on device manager the port number you are using and when you open conzul or other programs use the same port number because usually the programs are in port 1 and you just have to change in the program for the port number you need.

Sorry for my English but I hope you all understand

no not got mine to work yet :(

Think its time for dan to set up the group buy :)

mines not an abay cable i paid decent money for it!! best get my geeky friend round to set it up

i managed to get mine working. I found that the com pots where not right. If you go into device manager and select your usb to com cable you should be able to check what com port your on (mine was 5) When you open conzult go into settings and it should say com port 3 or 4 (mine was on 3) just change them both to com port 4 and it should work i think.. Dont hold me to it mind

Email me car.mad, I'll send you something I just downloaded, will be trying it today...
