Just a quick question fellas

Ref this HID kit for sale on ebay:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/XENON-HID-CONVERSION-KIT-NISSAN-300ZX-H3-/310213954935?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item483a314d77

I'm looking at upgrading the stock headlights on the shortie' to HID units, now the headlight units on the shortie' ('95 import model) are different to the headlight unit on the LWB ('91 UK model).

Is the above kit the one that I need for the shortie'?

cheers

Another question i already have these as my main headlights but if i bought another set can i use them as my main beam to?

the problem with running HIDs as main beam is when you flash the lights or switch main beam on & off it takes a while for HIDs to fire up, not good for light output or for the HID units themselves!!

no, They take a couple of seconds to reach full brightness, and flashing severely shortens their lifespan.

Get cheaper all the time these kits, a while ago for that kind of money you had to go to the far east.

It doesn't state whether the kit is 50/55w or 35w, I am not convinced there is much difference anyway, personally I have the 55w in mine

I find the 50w stock bulb in the main beam on our cars works very well, so certainly no need for hid lights in that position, apart from the flash issue.

Those cheap kits are ok .. does make a bit of difference over the stock halogen .. but if you can afford it .. go for a Philips kit .. i have one fitted on mine and it knocks the socks off the cheap chinese kits .. i install and repair niteclub/bar lighting systems and if any of you guys are lampies or mobile DJ's you will knwo what i mean about the differnce in output from a cheap lamp and a proper branded one ... same goes for HID .. pretty much same type of lamp

im with you there .. the stock lamps are utter **** i just went for the dearer ones because i have to do a 15 mile trip in total darkness on some of the dodgiest twisting ountry lanes .. but the new philips ones are like flood lights lol

iv got these exact ones on mine

+'s theyr the slim type(the boxes that power them are very small) they are a massive improvment over the candels in fogd glss standard

-' they dont spray the light as much as youd hope ....thats it really

for 30 buck m8 they do the trick

Wise move mate!

And with HIDs in your dipped beam, you'll find that you will hardly use main beam anyway!!

And if you do occasionally have to, just buy a decent set of uprated halogen bulbs (H1 size) for your mains - I went for Osram Nightbreakers myself....

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Yes I have looked at your side lights and one thing I notice they are not the modern white

I am a fan of these, very bright and white

But I have seen these now and I have just bought some for myself, suggest you do to as the cost will not break the bank!!!

The HID kit arrived today, so before I started to fit it (typically it doesn't come with instructions) I figured I'd check in with you guys first.

Here's what the kit consists of:

The shortie' is a '95 model so therefore has later spec headlights (still crap...but later spec none the less!)

I'm sure somebody mentioned previously that the later spec headlights don't require the balast boxes as they are already setup to accomodate the HID harness and is just plug and play, is this correct?
