Well I decided to rebuild my engine to put new shiny turbos, but can anyone advise me before I start doing this. I want approximately to produce 450bhp + and also what middle rev turbos, dont want anything like a massive turbos with massive lag. So anyone can advise me where to buy cheaper rebuild kit what turbo the best to put in and any other necessary information. Cheers guys.

looking at your requirments ..you would need a forged piston set as well as the tubs..bigger injectors and uprated intercooler/ intercoolers depending if you go single fmic or twin side mounts, radiator and cooling would need upgrading, brakes, definatley clutch absolutley ...before you do this consider if you really need that much power ..for the road 370-400 rwhp is plenty ...and that can be had without much in the way of massive mods......tubos plenty to choose from Z1 do lots of kits for upgrades with lots of choices ...street applications or track and drag....

That's clever answer, cheers. Could you recommend any turbos from z1 similar to power enterprise pe1420 because I had them before and I absolutely loved them.

http://www.powerenterpriseusa.net/products/turbo/nissan/z32/z32.htm similar to this ones but I want just little bit cheaper version

if you want cheap you need 2nd hand there is some for sale on here however with second hand you can never guarantee how good they are

No point strapping new turbos onto a tired engine. Rebuild kits are available from Z1 for about 600-1000 depending on how thorough you want to be. But if you want to aim for big figures you're gonna need to replace this pistons or risk damaging your stock ones. As mentioned you will also need to overhaul the fuelling system too.

And that is really the crux of the issue. If you do it cheaply and your engine fails, then it will cost you a lot more than doing it right the first time. You can save a shed load by doing the work yourself, but even then, building a 500bhp engine won't be cheap - otherwise everyone would be doing it!

Jimmer is the man with all the answers my friend (he rebuilt my engine to a similar spec to which you will need). Though I haven't got the boost or fuel wound up... yet..

My honest advice would be, don't do it :)

If you check out my thread, 'some build pics', you will get an idea of what I'm going for.

After 1k becomes 5k, 5k becomes 10k, 10k becomes 20k you start to wonder, is it worth it? Well, I'm along way from finished so I don't know the answer to that yet. When I think about it though, it would have been a much better idea buyin a zed for 6k that someone else had built. Sure, you wouldn't get the sense of achievement but it probably would have covered more than 2000miles in the last 4 years.

Just my slant on things :)

Sound advice there mate

^^^^ Exactly.

By the time I've got 450+ bhp I'll be down well over 10 grand. Thats a lot for a car worth 5 grand. But, if you're stupid like me, you'll ignore this advice and do it anyway. And probably enjoy it too! ...and then you'll realise we were right!!

I wonder if anybody will actually take the advice and save themselves a whole load of heartache and expense ??

I know that, like a tit, I certainly didn't

Lol my plans seem to be around that figure too however I can do a lot of the work myself :) if you wanna get an engine built it will cost you 6k plus do it yourself about half that but that's just for the block then you need the rest to be able to get the power out of your new block. I'm crazy too so in happy to drop 20k into the zed however it will be something special by the end

Tell ya what wish Id have listened to people, heres a deal if your gonna waste 20k you can buy mine for £8k lol ive spent best part of £20k already on zeds, its got the bottom end all done nice set of tubs and your laughing lol

Can buy mine for 8k too I think it means a lot more to you when you do the work yourself which is why I'd never sell

This gets VERY VERY expensive as every performance part you change requires a further two to maximise the benefit. It just goes on and on and before you know it you are into seriously big money.

Mine is so powerful it simply rips the road up and is a scary drive in the first 4 gears. I have all the mechanicals done and she is about run in now. From here I can start running a bit of boost and get my giggle gas running and do the fueling etc.

But that for anything other than a dyno day is un useable on the road TBH especially in a two wheel drive car.
