With this being only my second week of zed ownership I was wondering about cambelt changes.ive come over to zeds from a v6 calibra (3.0 omega engine) and with those you have to change the tensioner and rollers at the same time as the belt.is it the same for zed engines?.i changed the cambelt kit on the calibra myself, is it any harder to do on a zed?, obviously the parts that have to be removed are different but I suppose the principle is the same.are any special tools needed to lock the cams etc

Any advice is appreciated, cheers :)

To be on the safe side and for a couple of hundred quid, just take it to zedworld and get them to do it bud, it will be done correctly with photos and will be given a once over on conzult aswell, dont quote me on the price but give them a bell, thats what I did ;)

my advice............. let zedworld do it, its an engine out job to do it properly

Deffo zedworld, but they wouldnt take the engine out

Changing the cambelt on a zed is a lot easier than 3.0 v6 from a vauxhall. It is recommended that you change the tensioners at the sametime but if they are still fine with a good smooth turn then they can be left in.

As above easier than a Vauxhall V6, and also what a crap place to put an oil cooler, right in the bloody V.

I know, luckily I never had the dreaded cooler leak on my v6's, I think the biggest cause is not using the correct coolant in the system and it rots the oil cooler (technically a heat exchanger) allowing the oil to leak into the cooling system.

If it is easier to do than a vauxhall v6 I will probably do it myself, as found the job pretty easy on the vaux v6 to be honest, I just made sure everything was double checked, then checked again :)

I did a Vectra v6, after doing it a few times the job got quicker and easier as i supposed once you know, it becomes easier lol

What will make the zed a bit easier is everything is facing you at the front of the car, rather than the side. You will need the rad out, the fan and the water pipes and all of a sudden you have loads of room, in comparison.

Why on earth would you think that?!

Nope not at all !!

tbh if you have done a v6 transversly mounted cam belt then the z will be a piece of piss!

Jeff has stated that it's easier to do on an engine that's out before, but only in the sense of, if your cam belt is nearing it's change time and you have the engine out for other stuff, you may as well change it whilst it's out, but Mikey and I did mine in situe.
