Im 40. but when i was a teenager, we would go to the local park and drink ourselves stupid.

Apart from the usual beer and cider, we used to drink Thunderbird.

From what i can remember it was some kind of wine.

blue label would make you do stupid stuff.

Red label was stronger, this would makes mates jump of the slides and swings, and injure themselves.

On the rare occasion you could get black label.

This would make teenagers go bonkers, made me convinced that i had been talking to pixies, and been chased by dustbin bags.

Anyone else remember this stuff, or any other drink you tried as a teenager.

I'm 35, when we were still too young to drink there was a strong cider called TNT, it came in a bottle shaped/wrapped as a stick of dynamite. It had the desired effect lol.

We used to Snakebite it with Gold Label. WTF!!!

The thought of it even now makes me feel queasy.

First time i got drunk was on White lightning, Yuk. made me sick as a dog never touched it since,

Whiskey and stella now.

It was white lightning cider for us.... 2 litre bottle for a couple of quid...nasty nasty stuff but did the job.

Im 45 and it was snakebites every time!!! never remember much but got in loads of trouble!

dan.

Mad dog 20/20.. Odd that it was called that given your vision was anything but!

Special brew. The choice of tramps everywhere - think I drunk 1 can of it before deciding it wasn't for me!!

Me and my mates used to go to an old air-raid shelter just outside of the village. The hatch was locked but people were always breaking in and climbing down the ladder the 20 odd ft down into the darkness. Very few people actually made it all the way down though - it was pretty claustrophobic and dark (also stories were rife of murders and rapes that had happened down there, pretty creepy place). But we would sit where an old anti-aircraft turret was mounted. By the time we had grown out of drinking in silly places it was like a recycling facility, I've never seen so many cans!

That was when we used to actually have summers of some sort and you could actually drink outside!

Apart from the usual beer and cider, we used to drink Thunderbird.

that the same stuff Seasick Steve sings about?

im 26 we invented a drink called suiside('i was 16)a quart of buckfast a quart of cider and a half pint of kesral super lager...pixies and lepricons faught while you pick a fight with farm animals in the city center

I remember thunderbird, it was what the local winos used to drink!!! I only had it once and even diluting it with lemonade couldn't salvage it. Did the job tho! Do you remember blastaways? Think it was castaway mixed with hooch. Like naughty lilt

special red cider for me, me and a mate drank 3 litre's between us, i was ill for a week (was about 13), never been able to drink cider since

It was white lightning for me. tried it during the summer and no idea how I managed to drink it..

Stick with the home brew now...lol

I remember thunderbird, it was what the local winos used to drink!!!

Thunderbird

17.5% alc. by vol.

If your taste buds are shot, and you need to get trashed with a quickness, then "T-bird" is the drink for you. Or, if you like to smell your hand after pumping gas, look no further than Thunderbird. As you drink on, the bird soars higher while you sink lower. The undisputed leader of the five in foulness of flavor, we highly discourage driking this ghastly mixture of unknown chemicals unless you really are a bum.

WARNING: This light yellow liquid turns your lips and mouth black! A mysterious chemical reaction similar to disappearing-reappearing ink makes you look like you've been chewing on hearty clumps of charcoal.

That will do me then

I remember my 1st try of diamond White. I was a goth and got dragged to a disco so I spent a couple of hours sat on a barstool, not liking the acid house type music. After about 5 bottles I decided to make an effort, got up to dance, promptly fell over and spent the next 10 mins sat there cos "I meant to do that, really"

Ah just remembered, blastaways were castaway n diamond white. No wonder I liked em!!

Arrgh Thunderbird I remember that well, never came across the black label. You're right Stu it was a fortified wine of some sorts.

One evening on a night out with my mates Daren introduced me to it. We were off on a pub crawl and before we hit any pubs we paid a visit to the local offy to start with. We each had a bottle of thunderbird (except Daren:shifty:) he told us not to drink it all as it was strong stuff. We thought it tasted like a fruit drink of sorts and took no notice (and on a empty stomach). Anyway to cut along story short I ended being carried home more or less by my brother and Daren at the end of the night not remembering anything of the walk home, not unusal you say. Ended up outside the local Police station on a bench trying no to chuck up in front of the plod at the front desk. But what was more worrying I couldn't rememeber getting undressed that night and to wake up in the morning starkers in bed not knowing which one of my wifes friend had helped undress a 6'4" drunken blob :helpsmilie::blush:

Was talking to a mate just the other day about this Thunderbird stuff, but I haven't seen for ages. Happy days!

I love it when you wake up and can't remember what happened! That's why I've started drinking in the mornings - before i know it, its the weekend again! Woop woop.

Thunderbird was the European equivalent of Americas Night Train !

Think of the Guns`n`Roses song.
