any ideas/ suggestions on how to fix the cigarette lighter?

i don't smoke but i do want to plug a couple of 12v devices in now and then, mobile charger, and service light etc.

from what i can tell their is no power to the socket, (have tried 2 sockets)

is their a fuse is so which one? is their a common fault? if no fix can i take a new 12v supply from anywhere round their?

thanks in advance

There is a fuse, but I think that fuse runs all the other accessories too, so you should notice more than just the fag lighter stop working. Roses cars cig lighter didn't work either, yet everything else did, we tested the wires and as with yours, there was no power. We just took a 12v line from what used to be a 12v to her autobox before it was removed, but any 12v should be fine.

There is a fuse, a 20A one IIRC down in the drivers footwell box.

Pretty sure its seperate, at least I never noticed anything else not working bar the lighter socket !

Interesting, I know we checked the fuse in Roses car and it was good, but for whatever reason I thought it was run with the other accessories. It is in the footwell though I remember that much.

thanks lost the cover to my footwell as it kept coming off, and have no idea where it is so thanks for the picture big help, ill give it a try or ill find an alternate source thanks.

I had a similar problem where the light would only output if wiggled when charging a phone etc.

I decided to investigate. I was getting 12v constant from the cable plugged into it so knew it wasn't a supply problem. I then moved onto the lighter socket itself, after taking it apart I worked out that it should move slightly when something is inserted into it and then make a ground and give you power, this wasn't happening, so I wedged a small piece of metal between the housing and hey presto it now works like a charm.
